now that it's "out there", I guess we can talk about the fact that Fields had offers from Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, Colorado, Kansas and Kansas State, to name a few. A RUNNING BACK with such offers...coming to lil' ol SMU and our gimmicky run & shoot. Hell yeah, b!tches

Not to mention offers from Arkansas and Tulsa. I think recruits see the potential SMU offers a talented player like Fields: come here, start immediately (if you want), develop under a proven head coach (with NFL connections) who is also a great teacher and positive personal influence on young players, put up big-time numbers, and be a part of the program's resurgence. In addition, you can also get a great education and degree (that is, to use after your NFL career!).

Just all pray for his Mom's health as she needs it.
Re: Darryl Fields article
I feel like Shawnbrey's success this year may have bee a factor in Fields' decision. Just shows how well a good RB can be in this offense, even if it is a lot of passing (although Nate Illoa did have a hell of a year for Hawaii a few years ago)

Welcome to SMU. A running back in the RNS can have a lot of fun.

What does "start immediately (if you want)" even mean? Do you really think players get to choose if they start or not?

Re: Darryl Fields article
these days with prospects that have NFL potential-you usually don't redshirt because they may turn pro early. Probably too early to make that call but these days if they are the "real deal" and physically ready you play them, and play a skill position especially . Even UT plays the top flight prospects for this reason. I think he'll probably have a good shot at playing as a freshman.

Darryl Fields is going to be a Mustang ! Awesome and WELCOME TO SMU ! Orsini's goal of Top 25 may hold true in the near future. Can you imagine McNeel and Fields as our pony express !
Re: Darryl Fields article
Wouldn't be surprised to see Shawnbrey check out his NFL draft status and go to the league.
