TO THE ADMINSTRATION AND DONORS who enabled the MUSTANG BAND to go to Hawaii.
The official email just came through to band alumns that the M Band is going to Hawaii. Last week, I lamented the lack of support for the Mustang Band outside the band community. I am overwhelmed at the response that most of the folks on this board and the overall community have shown. Your posts and and pm's have meant a lot.
One of the posts indicated that band alumns have a "bunker mentality." That is true as our experiences had made us just a little jaundice. Well that is past. It is time for all of us to get out and pull the wagon.
The adminstration has put the band on its radar. I encourage all to respond including the band alumns who have been stand offish.
There are several ways to support the M Band.
1. Join the Diamond M Club by calling Call 214-SMU-BAND (214-768-2263)
2. Participate in the Mustang Band Second Century Initiative:
That is great news. I think the team will be thankful for the extra school spirit and support during the game...almost like playing at home.
BE LOUD MUSTANG BAND!
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

Can't wait to hear Peruna played at the pep rally in Hawaii.
There is something so kick [deleted] about hearing your school's fight song a long way from home in a place you wouldnt expect.
I was at the Convention Center in Atlanta a couple years ago before the SEC championship game...when we stumbled upon this, it gave you chills, almost drew tears of the hardcore fans there...something else. At the time I dreamed of when something similar would happen at SMU:
Roger Staubach asked me yesterday morning if we would have of fans going to Hawaii...i told him that based on what i was reading here on ponyfans that there would be a loyal following there for sure.
