A call to those students who post on this board:

Post by XmustangXdeathX »

I wouldn't assume anyone who posts would do this, BUT if you or any of your friends or just anyone you know talks about coming to the game with a bag or a box over his/her head, I would greatly advise against it. We had a problem with this at UTEP where this guy had a box over his head and decided to sit where? That's right, right next to the band. Needless to say, he left after a few minutes.

I can understand being ashamed of how we play, but either you show support or you don't. If you're ashamed, then stay the hell away from the game, and don't show your ugly (box) face there.

As I said before, I would hope it's not anyone on here, but I know things like this have been done in the past, and will happen again this year (of course due to our winning ability at the games), but if some people think it's "cool" well it's not. It's degrading, annoying, disrespectful, and down right stupid.
Oh you gotta love it. The horns, the drums, the noise! It's all for the love of music, for the love of the game.

"Real SMU fans" would not wear a bag over their head at an SMU Game.

The media loves plastering that type of stuff all over the news.....now wouldn't that be great for potential recruits to see.

Come on people lets not do things that hurt the program!

We would be more likely to get a large student crowd this week by instead of advertising the worst team in college football, we advertise a Bikini-Sunbathing Pageant at Ford Stadium at 2:00 Saturday to get that killer tan for Homecoming Nite.

Barbara Ann...I hope that more people come to the game and not stay home. If that means fans protesting the utter crap that the athletic department feeds us by wearing a bag or box over their heads then so be it. My advice to Barbara Ann...shut up.

I should slap you with your own shoe Johnny

I am calling you OUT !

While you would never see T with no bag on his face - I have no real problems with silly foo'[deleted] pro-sports season ticket holders who wear head bags at games late in the season. Those players are paid professionals - and usually the bag-on-the-head approach is directed at ownership and management for making bad free agent or draft decisions that lead to a sorry product on the field.

SMU is NOT a pro team - there is no salary cap, there is no free agency, and there SURE AS H#LL is not DRAFT.

These player are a bunch of 18 to 21 year old boys who CHOOSE to come to SMU, wear the blue and red and represent the school we all gradulated from (presumably). They don't have to go to SMU - and we sure as hell won't be getting any good freshman choosing our fine institution if the "fans" who do show up to games decide to alienate the players on the field.

If you want to send a message to the athletic department - write a letter - or exercise your right NOT to come out to the games

otherwise... get a grip and think before you post jibba jabba that that.

and by the way - you will notice that T did NOT say any "sunshine" news about the team (because we are not good - and I do not know if we will ever turn it around) that is NOT what this post in about - it is about sportmanship and appriopriate behavior.

WARNING SUCKAS !!

If I EVER catch a SMU fan pulling that bag on the head crap at a game - then sucks better run - because I will be throwin' foo's helluva far

Give you bag to COWBOY fan - he'll need it after Parcells does his usual walk out the team in 2 years

Johnny Rock, why would you say something like that? Since you feel so strong about this, I challenge you to wear your bag over your head to the game.....

Oh, you're the type to throw the rock but put your hands behind your back.

Chicken.....

Hang in there bro! :thumbupcool:

I do not wear bags over my head at the games, or do I condone it. I was simply saying that I would rather see people pay and watch the games with bags over their head than having an empty stadium like we did against Boise St. If someone wants to wear a bag over their heads then that is fine with me. You guys and gals need to take your heads out of the administrations' [deleted] and wake up to the realities of what is going on with the football team. Too many people are too quick to defend the program. I guess I would be too if I gave a lot of money upon what turned out to be false promises, i.e., The Commitment. Take your fruastrations out on Turner and Copeland and not on me. If my policies were invoked we would have consistent winning seasons and bowl game trips so get off my [deleted] and for those of you who do not can kiss it!

Johnny,
It's not alumni who have donated and are fed up with the current situation. It's smartass students who think they are being funny by wearing a bag over their head. And, it's not like 3000 bag wearing fans read Barbara Ann's post and are now not going to the game. It was like 2 people last time, and if they don't show up, fine. I would actually encourage them to show up, with bags over heads, just so I could see what happens when Barbara Ann and I find them.

first off, I believe your second sentence contridicts your first. You say you don't condone something, then immediately say "I would rather see people pay and watch the games with bags over their head than having an empty stadium" (sounds like you condone it)

secondly - I am not defending the program, I simply object to the practice of bag wearing in college football

thirdly - there is not guarentee that "your policies" would work to solve our problems - since even if we had winning seasons (short of 9-2 or better) our small fan base and limited access to any bowl tie-in might have reduced our abailities to get bowl bids

...unless your policy is like the one that led to the action which shall remain unspoken...
