June looking to get all Night home games in 2010 and beyond

Post by SMUSA2013 »

heard he his trying to get night games to better advertise to the dallas fanbase and to get more people out to Gerald J Ford. Makes good sense with all the families around with kids in pee-wee football, soccer, or anything sporting events that take up the day.

This is true, except when tv time changes come into effect.

I'll defer to JJ on this and hope that he is right, but I'd much rather have the games during the day. Especially as the weather cools down.

this just sucks for anyone with kids b/c a 7pm game doesn't end until 10, and by the time you get home it's 11:00. sure, we could get a sitter, but i want my son to be able to go to games.

but, oh well. guess i'll just have to figure something out.
Ok this is getting ridiculous...I agree with Dutch on THIS ONE POST by him totally

The 'vard after CST rolls around is going to need light plants.

night games in november have been tried by smu and they suck for fans. i guess being 1-6 made it suck worse but still, it doesn't net you more fans, and you often are going up against a big primetime tv game often involving UT.

I love this idea! I have been an advocate for night games for many, many years. It never get's cold enough in Dallas in November to concern yourself with weather, and it gives our fans more time to enjoy tailgating and get fired up. Families may have a concern over sitters and kids, but at the risk of offending some on this board, I don't want our games to be "family friendly". I'd rather them be rowdy, loud, intimidating places for opponents to play. That's a tough atmosphere to create when you have a bounce-house in the end zone.

I also love the idea of a new nickname for the stadium! LSU plays in "Death Valley", Florida has "The Swamp, Ohio State "The Shoe"...Gerald J is just too formal. I think "The Hilltop" would be a cool name. I will say though, that before we start to name our stadium or our defense, we need to establish a trend of winning first (it will add more credibility to it).

In June I trust!

Maybe 6:00 PM start time is a happy medium and the kids can get home by 10.....

If we could make the games at 5 or 6 at the latest that would be cool.

The stadium sits on a lower part of the campus in a dugout bowl though...
