Re: Jeff ReineBold wednesday the road
Hmmmm...Tech commit?
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
Re: Jeff ReineBold wednesday the road
That certainly would make sense, PK
Hope it's a very large defensive lineman!

Scotty Young maybe? Tuberville is not a spread kind of guy. Will be interesting to see who it is!!
Re: Jeff ReineBold wednesday the road
Hard to tell about those committs, even to the Big 12. Could be the recruit has had his offer rescinded. You always read about the recruits changing their committments but rarely is there any publicity about the behind the scenes last few weeks where coaches have offered too many or they are now wanting guys to grayshirt. Just because a guy committed to a Big 12 school doesn't mean the SMU coaches still don't have to do their homework. Remember the guy a couple of years ago that had the big production at his high school about committing to a pac 10 school when the school had never even offered? Our coaches picked up some good ones last year who weren't well known. Hope they do it again.

I actually talked to a Tech alum yesterday and he told me he is keeping the spread offense. He is bringing in the Troy offensive coordinator. He also told me that Tuberville had installed the spread the last year he was at Auburn. Don't know if any of this is true but that is what I was told by a very big follower of the Tech program.

This was consistant with the reports on ESPN.

Re: Jeff ReineBold wednesday the road
he did install the spread at Auburn, with disastrous results. The new OC brought in to install it was fired before the season was up. Probably had a lot to do with trying to install the spread w/ the smashmouth personnel they had, though.

Committing to a school that never gave you and offer is not the same as committing to a school that did give you an offer. And I how you like getting recruits that are not well known or are potential diamonds in the rough that have less than D1A talent so that we can take 4 years to development tem into possible quality backups.

Tuberbville started the spread at AU his last year then fired the OC middle of the season. He can say what he wants people to hear now but within a couple of seasons he will be back to a 80/20 ratio run to pass offense.
