Kenneth Acker
Has anyone heard of him playing for Coach Doherty? I asked Coach Jones about him and he had very high praise for him saying that he is ok with it as long as he keeps his GPA up!!! He pretty much said that he was just as good if not better than Paul McCoy!!! Ponydoh have you seen him play basketball?

Re: Kenneth Acker
Guy from Oregon on here the other day said that Acker was the most exciting high school hoops player in Oregon in recent memory.

Re: Kenneth Acker
I talked with Paul McCoy today, and he called Acker "a great basketball player and a great athlete" ... in addition to his obvious football ability. McCoy seemed genuinely impressed by Acker.

Re: Kenneth Acker
suit him up, that won't count against our scholarships
Re: Kenneth Acker
Does anyone know what type of pg he is? I know he is supposedly very good, but if he is a pass first point guard then we just got our gift for next season!!!!!!!

Re: Kenneth Acker
Did a little searching and it looks like Acker was one of 20 Oregon players nominated for the 2010 McDonald's All-America game.

Re: Kenneth Acker
Acker is a football player. He should not be playing bball. Foolish to take the chance on an injury on the bball court and ruin a good fball player. Doh should be recruiting his own players, if he is still here next year.

lol, what if he likes hoops better, but just got a fball ride? That happens all the time, you know. What if he wants to play both? Your post has a certain bias in it.
That said, just heard from a few folks, and he's not really a viable option to play hoops. He'll play football only, and from what I'm told, really isn't that high end a hoops player, mostly an athlete. Certainly, if he only played hoops, he wouldn't get an offer.

So your people have seen enough tape on him within a smidge of time to determine whether or not he's a Division I prospect? I find their response to you suspicious.

Re: Kenneth Acker
Time will tell, but we've have some pretty fair 2 sport guys at SMU. Oscar Roan comes to mind. Football 1st, but he certainly helped the hoops team back then.

Not tape, they've seen him live on multiple occasions. I'd just never knew to ask about him. When I did, they gave me a prompt and straight answer. It's not like I asked and they ran for tape, lol. Beyond that, it's naive to think the hoops program isn't aware of a guard coming out of McCoys old high school. If they had loved him, they would have offered, especially considering he and McCoy are tight.
Here's what some need to digest. We passed on several kids in '10 who are marquee signings for other CUSA teams(see UAB). Whether that bites us, we'll see, but the thought was that they weren't as good as the kids we already had in the fold. Acker has no mid major, much less high major bites in hoops. The PGs we're currently after to complete '10 are all far more accomplished, far more accomplished

Re: Kenneth Acker
Pony fan- where did I state that I didn't like hoops. Admittedly, I am not impressed with our bball team and suspect that a coaching change needs to be made but that should not imply that I don't like hoops.
