NG's DT's
Bottom Line is we have got to score two of each next year. One or two can come from JUCO ranks but then the next year we need to replace then with two more.
JJ's plan is working and I bet after more wins next year, we get the BIG MEN we need.
The Mustang MILITIA needs BIG MEN.
Do we have any on the radar or would they be recruits to stay silent about?
Go Mustangs

It is like the Kenny Turner recruiting situation, you are always better off to keep quite about the recruits name until it is basically a done deal.
Re: NG's DT's
Two of EACH?
Aren't NTs and DTs the same in our defense?
And interior DLs with size and talent come at as high a premium as any players out there. Doesn't four in one year seem like a stretch?
(Don't get me wrong - I'm all for it. Just seems like a pipedream to me. Hope I'm wrong.)

Re: NG's DT's
I used both terms as they may play one of those in high school Just based upon the 3-4, 4-3 or even 5-2 they play.
4 is what we need and some of that HAS TO come from JUCO.
For SMU to take the next step we have to have depth at this position. I know there are other areas that need depth but this is our number one flaw.
You never know, Mr. Mason my pull a rabbit out of the hat and put 50 pounds on a few people this off season. Heck, I can do that!!

Re: NG's DT's
Don't think we need 4 in this class. 2 of top quality should do it so long as we can get more next year.
Staff should take a recruiting trip here:

I'm surprised JJ hasn't used his connections in Samoa/Tonga yet. I figured he would targeted the islands a little more considering how many players he had from there when he was at Hawaii. Hopefully we can try and recruit out of there more often. If Idaho can get a monster like Mike Iupati(below), we should be able to find success in the islands as well.

You must understand that Rugby is bigger in Tonga and parts of Samoa than american football. The Australian and New Zealand rugby union and rugby league pro teams look for talent from both locations as well, so there is not a big player pool to chose from.SMUfiji43 wrote:I'm surprised JJ hasn't used his connections in Samoa/Tonga yet. Re: NG's DT's
Aren't there several Tonga players at Euless Trinity? Seems like a great place to recruit!

Re: NG's DT's
As a Rugby player, I definitely understand the popularity of Rugby over football in Tonga & Samoa(I play with several Islanders). I was just touching on the fact that JJ had huge success recruiting the area and had several players from there in every recruiting class. It would make sense that he would be able to have similar success at a better school with superior facilities and coaching.ozfan wrote:
