Education is important to Preston, who plans to pursue a business degree. "I've always wanted to play big-time football, but when I think about earning a degree from Harvard or Brown it's hard to pass up. I really like SMU, though. Growing up in Los Angeles, I used to watch every Hawaii game because they came on so late. Watching Colt Brennan throw in that offense was fun. I can play a pro-style or spread set, but I definitely favor a spread offense."

Someone should tell him that Harvard and Brown do not offer undergraduate business degress. Only two Ivy League schools do, Penn and Cornell.

So if he plans to pursue a business degree, and he goes to Harvard or Brown, he should get ready for grad school.

Outside of Dallas Commercial Real Estate, almost every high end finance job requires an MBA..We hire more Comp Sc., Math, and fin. engineering majors than BBAs now...

The best route is to pursue a liberal arts education at the undergraduate level and leave trade school for the graduate level. Way too many business graduates can't read or write.

Thats not true at all...depends on where you get your BBA and how they teach...Is it the case study method or just B classes? The old Harvard case study method can really prepare you to view the business world in a more practical sense.

Knowing a debit from a credit or how to read a financial statement are necessary skills in the business world. But without a solid liberal grounding you are an uneducated slave.

Many universities with undergraduate business degrees require business majors to have more than half of their total credits come from classes outside of the business school. SMU is one of these. Get too many business credits, and you can't graduate with a business degree.
