RANDY McKINNON: Student of the game

It's not often that teams accept transfers with just one year remaining to play. But safety Randy McKinnon graduated early from Syracuse and had a year of eligibility remaining, and when he reached out to SMU for a chance to finish his college football career and earn a graduate degree, the SMU coaches liked what they saw.

McKinnon visited with PonyFans.com to discuss his unusual path to the Hilltop, what he's doing to get up to speed with his new defense and how he sees himself fitting in with the Ponies' 2010 defense.

Yes, he graduated and based on the new rules can go to grad school and play right away.

I have talked to some players at smu and they say that mckinnon will be starting as long as he is healthy..They said he is a freak in the weightroom and apparently a good size safety at 210..cant wait for tech
