Mustang Band Bigger this year?

Post by WorldStang »

Wondering if we're going to get blown out by TCU's band.. again this year. Whenver a bigger band comes into our stadium and we have the ball.. they actually play loud to disrupt play calling prior to snap. TCU will do it again.. I'm sure.

Also.. is band going to Tech?

Someone posted earlier that they have 80-something again this year. Google says TCU has 200.

If size matters, maybe we could borrow the Allen band (600) - same colors - just slap a Peruna over that "A". Our 82 can play louder and much, much better than that horned frog ensemble.

Those who have seen the band hall know why the band isn't bigger than it is - you quite literally cannot fit any more people in there. The band needs a new band hall. If you want SMU to have a larger band, please consider donating to the Diamond M Club.

The band would be larger if the directors had more scholarship money to offer incoming students.
Give to the Diamond M Club if you want a larger band (http://www.diamondmclub.org).

Diamond girl... who paid for the band to go to Hawaii.
Athletic Department.

Yes, the band needs to be in the athletic department and not Meadows. I understand but look where the money came from.

Looks like we are down from last year (86), but only by a smattering.

The band hall isn't in Meadows, but the band is administered as a part of Meadows.

I thought all pep squads, band/peruana/cheerleaders/pom, were a part of Rec Sports. Did something change?

Cheerleaders/Pom are a part of Rec Sports, I believe. Not sure about Peruna. Band is most definitely administered through Meadows, though.

And contrary to BUS's post, the athletic department did not pay for the band to go to Hawaii.
