Men's Soccer Ranked No. 5 In NSCAA Poll

DALLAS (SMU) - The SMU men's soccer team is ranked fifth in the nation in this week's NSCAA/HendrickCars.com National Rankings. The Mustangs are 9-0-0 on the season, 1-0-0 in Conference USA action and rank first in the Midwest regional rankings.
The Mustangs picked up wins over UAB and Jacksonville in Birmingham over the weekend. SMU opened Conference USA play with a 3-2 victory over UAB Sept. 24. Freshman Juan Castillo opened the scoring in the 25th minute, with his team-leading seventh goal of the season and sixth in as many games. Reigning C-USA Player of the Week Arthur Ivo picked up his third goal of the season in the 43rd minute when he one-timed a shot from just outside the 18 to give the Mustangs a two goal lead. In the 53rd minute, Josue Soto put SMU up 3-0 with his second goal of the season and the eventual game-winner. SMU defeated Jacksonville 2-1 with a come-from-behind overtime win Sept. 26. Robbie Derschang started the Mustang comeback with his goal in the 70th minute to tie the game at one. In the 93rd minute, Ivo completed the comeback as he scored the game-winner for the Mustangs.
SMU faces conference foe UCF Saturday, Oct. 2 at 6 p.m. before returning home to host C-USA rival South Carolina Wednesday, Oct. 6 at 7 p.m.

Juan Castillo is sooooo good. I have a friend who is a scout for a MLS team, and he said Castillo is definitely looking at playing in the next level.

With all due respect I don't think so. If you will recall this team under SH was consistently a top nationally ranked team. When he left it went to he11 with the new administration. It is finally getting back where it used to be. I am very glad for that but don't feel any apologies are necessary. I will certainly congratulate him when he wins the NC.
