Awesome. We needed a conference win desperately.

Webb with 10 saves according to the box score on the ECU web site. (Actually, Courtney Smith had 10 saves according to their box score).

I understand getting two people with the same last name mixed up but there are tons of girls name Courtney. Geez...

Great game for the Mustangs.

Maybe the team is learning how to win on the road. A second W on Sunday would really be nice, especially since 5 of their remaining 7 are at home.

It should be noted that the game wasn't played at ECU, as scheduled, because the field was flooded. Both teams took a bus about 100 miles to play in Cary, N.C.

Here's SMU's version of the goings-on:

SMU Shuts Out East Carolina, 1-0

Oct. 1, 2010

CARY, N.C. (SMU) - The SMU women's soccer team defeated East Carolina 1-0 Friday afternoon. Amanda Burgardt scored for the Mustangs. With the win, SMU moves to 6-4-2 on the season and 1-2-0 in C-USA action.

Burgardt scored her third goal of the season in the 24th minute. The freshman forward scored off a cross from Kristin Medeiros to net the game's lone goal. The assist was Medeiros' third this season.

Goalkeeper Courtney Webb earned her fifth shutout of the season, making 10 saves on the afternoon. With the shutout, Webb has set a personal high for shut outs in a season. She posted four clean sheets in 2009.

The game, originally scheduled for a 3 p.m. start in Greenville, N.C., was moved to a 1 p.m. start in Cary due to inclement weather.

SMU faces Marshall Sunday morning at 11 a.m. The Mustangs return home to host a pair of conference matchups next weekend at Westcott Field. SMU plays UTEP Friday, Oct. 8 at 7 p.m., before taking on Colorado College Sunday, Oct. 10 at 2 p.m. Purchase your tickets online at smumustangs.com or call 214-SMU-GAME.
