Taylor Thompson
He took that guy blocking him to school tonight. He had Kinne running for his life.

Re: Taylor Thompson
yeah, 73 could not block Thompson. Period. From the 2nd quarter on, every play either had the TE helping, the back helping, or Kinne rolled the opposite way. When one of those three things didnt happen, Thompson had his way with the guy.
Re: Taylor Thompson
Taylor is playing exceptional DE. Wow! Fun to watch the up front three dominate the line of scrimmage. Great job Taylor!

Re: Taylor Thompson
Thompson had a nice game. Don't know if he ended up with a sack but he had a chance to have about 4 but to kinne's credit he was very slipery.

Re: Taylor Thompson
They had their hands full with Taylor...he is a manchild who will play on Sundays after his great carreer is through here at the Hilltop. He never stops working all game and in the 4th quarter his man was extremely frustrated and worn out...Kinne is very slippery and is a damn good quarterback and am glad to come out with a win.
Re: Taylor Thompson
In the first half we got almost no pressure. In the Second half we got the pressure but Kinne to his credit slide and avoided it well.

Re: Taylor Thompson
GJ Kinne is an exceptional athlete, and yes, he slipped out of would-be sacks (at least two) by Thompson, and at least one by Fleps. But Thompson was in the backfield so often it looked like he had been in the Tulsa huddle before plays.
In addition, in post-game interviews, June Jones and and Pete Fleps both were asked about the Ponies' ability to block kicks, and the first name each cited — before Margus Hunt and Kevin Grenier, who blocked field goals Saturday night — was Taylor Thompson. Each cited his ability to get a huge push, allowing Hunt/Grenier to slide through and make the blocks.

Re: Taylor Thompson
73 set up way to high. His center of gravity was an easy target to get under.

Re: Taylor Thompson
This guy is one big reason TU couldn't hit the big plays. He put pressure on Kinne and made completing big plays a huge challenge. All that pressure doesn't get big time stats. It just ends up with a win.
We have all expected the secondary to be supported by the front 7. Last night, we saw what pressure from the front 7 means to the secondary. And Thompson was a big part of that.

Taylor Thompson already looked like a beast. Now he's playing like one.

Re: Taylor Thompson
Except for the blocks, was anyone concentrating on Margus? Like most of you I ended up concentrating on Thompson and our secondary. I saw him make an arm tackle that treated the ball carrier like a rag doll, but it appeared he sorta got lost in the "scrum" most of the night, perhaps that made Thompson's role easier.

Re: Taylor Thompson
At one point Tulsa ran a misdirection trick play. Margus stayed at home and made the tackle at the line of scrimmage. Either a well disciplined technique or he was lost and ended up at the right place at the right time. I will believe well disciplined technique for now.

Re: Taylor Thompson
I thought it seemed like Grenier got more reps and Margus played about 2/3 of the time..less than usual, especially in the 2nd half. Could be that I only thought to look at times when Grenier was out there
