Memorial Stadium is a tough place to play. That old field doesn't have conventional stadium lights (unless they have been very recently added), so the lighting is different than what you're used to. Not to mention you've got 72,000 screaming Berkeley students/alums, many of whom are so hammered on drugs/alcohol that they get super loud. The hill on one side of the stadium also helps hold sound in. Finally it can't be underestimated that you never know when an earthquake is going to strike the Hayward Fault and cause the stadium to collapse in upon the playing field.

Cal may just may lose this game because their kicker took a studder step too early on that first FG attempt-talk about sliding through. Don't think I've ever seen that

It would be very ironic for Cal to lose due to one of their own being too far to the right.

Nancy Pelosi wouldn't stand for it. Well, members of her own party now hate her.

winning on the road in any conference is tough...especially if you have that #1 target on your back. After a somewhat disappointing season, you knew the Ducks were going to get Cal's best effort. I think Oregon is going to see more of those momentum breaking "injuries" after others see how effective it was

I think Oregon is like OU 2 years ago. Great, fast pace record setting offense that dominated the regular season, but if they win out and face a real D (TCU perhaps?) in the title game, they'll get shut down. OU in 2008 dominated w/ Bradford and Co but when they finally met a defense that could match them step for step (florida), they got beat.

Missed the game - was the call legit? What exactly happened?

Yes. Kicker just started his move to the ball before the snap and then abruptly stopped just as the ball was snapped. It was very obvious, but I have never seen it happen or be called before. Had he set for 1 second before the snap it would have been ok but it happened very quickly, just like a RB taking off too soon.

That is crazy. How's does that happen? Poor guy - must be crushed, as are Auburn, Boise, and TCU fans.

What is worse is that before last night he had never missed a kick from within the yardarge of both of them in his time at Cal (3 years I think).
