Faculty, Staff, and Student Tickets: Half-Price
Email sent out to the university community earlier today:
To all SMU faculty, staff & students:
What a great time to be a Mustang! With the support of our faculty, staff and students, the SMU football team continued its climb in 2010, making its first appearance in the Conference USA Championship Game and winning its second-straight C-USA Western Division title. As the calendar year draws to a close, SMU will also be making its second-straight bowl appearance, and this time, the game will be played right here on our campus, as the Mustangs will face Army in the Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 30, at Gerald J. Ford Stadium.
Because this is a post-season game, run by an outside organization, it will not operate like other SMU “home” games and all attendees will need to purchase a ticket to the game.
To express our appreciation for the support of the team by our faculty, staff and students, SMU will subsidize half of the cost of going to the game for this valuable group. While tickets are currently on sale for $40 though the SMU Ticket Office, SMU Athletics will be selling $20 game tickets to our faculty, staff and students.
Because of the cost associated with this, there are limits on ticket purchases. Faculty and staff can buy up to four (4) tickets at this discounted rate, while students may purchase one (1) ticket for personal use. To buy your tickets, you must come to the SMU Ticket Office, located on the north end of Ford Stadium and show your SMU ID. These tickets will go on sale at 9 a.m. on Monday, December 13, and will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis.
We hope you will take advantage of our faculty, staff and student ticket offer and look forward to seeing you at the game. GO MUSTANGS!

1) That's awesome for the folks who are in town.
2) Sales must suck if this is going on.
3) I have no idea what I'm talking about. Anyone know what USC or A&M does for their on campus folks during bowl games? I would figure they just give you a better sho at getting a ticket but that they don't subsidize it.

PS: This is why June sees no problem changing uniforms, horses, game day ceremonies, brand of shampoo used in the showers, canceling the football banquet, etc. After two years of success we're able to sell 4500 tickets to a HOME bowl game. June only needs to care about Turner and Bob Sharp's heavy hitters.

It's a shame I'll be out of town. I would have LOVED to go to this game, especially with tickets half off..

A thought: didn't a lot of our season ticket holders buy tickets through the bowl office in August/Sept/whenever they had that special pre-sale?

When I went to the ticket office today they said that we have sold 5000 tickets of our allotment. I wish this e-mail was sent out on Monday.

Thanks...so that number can be added to whatever we've sold, which according to NE Mustang, is about 5k
I agree with NE Mustang that students, faculty, and staff should have received this email on Monday, especially now that about half of the students are done with finals (6 days of finals, 3 this week Wed-Fri and 3 next week Mon-Wed) and some of those have probably already left town or will be leaving town before 9 AM on Monday.

Think I still have my student ID.
Re: Faculty, Staff, and Student Tickets: Half-Price
after all this ticket talk, do you guys think we'll sell our allotment by game time?
It seems like there is no way for them to know until they run all the orders through/process.
Are stadium seats only for season ticket holders and Armed Forces Bowl executives?

The ticket office and Mustang club have been KILLED with ticket requests. We hear about 5K hear and 4.5K there plus pre-sales plus Bowl guests. SMU is doing its part and will sell more than the allotment.
I have a frog couple and two tt couples joining the Mustang Militia for this game!
Stay tuned for MORE.

Hopefully Ponyfans aren't over panicking - which might be the case. I hope Mustang Nation takes the day off and grabs our SMU tickets. Would love to see the banner on the SMU office building again and some yard signs. I have seen nothing in terms of advertising at all.
It's false advertising on the ticket page of their website in big letters = SOLD OUT. The not so bright people or lazy ones will think they can't get tickets unless they look at the fine print.
Re: Faculty, Staff, and Student Tickets: Half-Price
It doesn't seem like it would take more than a few phone calls to KILL the ticket office and Mustang Club with ticket requests. We're not exactly overstaffed in those areas.
