SMU Supporters Group: Name To Be Determined

Post by SMUer »

I would like to invite PonyFans who are dissatisfied with their game-day experience or feel disconnected from fellow active fans spaced throughout Ford to join [Name to Be Determined], a SMU Supporter Group.

For about $100, membership would provide each fan 1 FB season ticket (~$72) and 1 item (~$25) of Group apparel (T-Shirt, Soccer Style Scarf, Hat, Bandana, to be determined) + Taxes on tickets, etc. Formation is in a very preliminary stages but you can help me greatly by providing the following information:

1) Are you interested? Realistically how many memberships will come from you or your household? I would like to secure an entire section just for us so that we can be as spirited as we like, without annoying more casual fans, if possible. If you have 25 friends, don't say "Me!+25" unless you have been successful in the past bringing all 25 friends to an SMU game. I will be working with Terry Hemme to get an entire section reserved for us and I would like to give him a pretty honest estimate on how many seats we'll need. Even block ticket purchase prices are non-negotiable, so no group discounts (yet) but I'll negotiate with Terry for the best possible group seats and will ultimately put the final options up to a Member vote.

2) What should we name it? Please post ideas below.

There are obvious kinks that will have to be worked out, but this is being done in earnest, since season ticket renewals will be going out soon.

don't know about the name of the group, but the section you're sitting in should be called Sherwood Forest

Call it "The Bluehairs" in honor of those who you are trying not to annoy. It has teh added bonus of giving you a reason to die your hair blue for every game.
The donkey's name is Kiki.

On a side note, anybody need a patent attorney?

I like it. Perhaps "The Merry Men" and call the Section "Sherwood Forest"? We'd have to make an effort to make our insignia pretty awesome and outlaw-ish or risk looking...dainty. I like the historical tie-in.

That is exactly what I have been working on.
See below.

Mustang Militia is a name I own and have tried to use to energize the Mustang Nation with a more aggressive attitude for ALL sports.

The 80's are so in the rear view mirror and we need all Mustang fans to buck up. Time to get on this plane and fly to the future. Yes, stand up and support your university with a donation and by putting those lungs to work while sitting or standing at Ford Stadium (Moody/Wescott included)

I have made a few hundred Mustang Militia Dog Tags. Theses are the metal tags and come with the standard 24 inch steel bead chain.

Come to the BUS STOP on the corner of Bishop and Binkley on GAME DAY. When they are gone... they're gone.

Buck up and be a member of the Mustang Militia.
Fight the good fight.

I'd be willing to move my 2 tickets to this section depending on where it is (what MC donation is required, and are they horrible endzone seats).

Also, I vote for Sherwood Forest and we all get shirts with Blount's face on them with the dollar signs in the eyes.

Also, we can't use the name "Blount" anywhere, because it looks too much like blunt, and we don't want a section of passive stoners.

Have you ever thought about getting a block of seats? I've seen your tent and I got really excited about what you were doing when you announced it a few years ago, but it seems very important to me that whatever group we form, we need to sit together so that we can coordinate efforts, be loud and aren't told to sit down and so forth. If you are interested in transforming Mustang Militia to an MLS-style Support Group, I'm for it and would be interested in hearing/sharing ideas on what this group should be like. You undoubtably have more PonyFriends and connections on here than I do. Group ticketing will be an interesting logistical problem but absolutely essential in my mind.

At SMU that might be easier to fill!
Ok this is getting ridiculous...I agree with Dutch on THIS ONE POST by him totally

1) "The Boosters" who wear shirts with a picture of Sherwood Blount with "money signs" over his eyes and sit in a section called "Sherwood's Forest"

or

2) "The Merry Men" who wear shirts with a picture of Sherwood Blount with "money signs" over his eyes and sit in a section called "Sherwood's Forest"

Can anybody with better investigative and/or Photoshop-skills know how to get that picture of Blount from Texas Monthly alone, without the text.

Even though we are not trying to be negative, Mr. Blount may not like this.......especially coming to games with his kids.

I think the most important part is finding what section you can get. I think many would move, but I don't think people are going to want to move from the 40 to sit on the 10. This will be your biggest hurdle.
