TERRANCE WILKERSON: A changed man

Post by PonyPride »

When he was suspended from SMU for the fall semester, wide receiver Terrance Wilkerson wondered if he would return. He had been told he could, in January, but he still had to go through the readmission process. Wilkerson reapplied, was denied and appealed twice ... and has been readmitted to the university. Assuming he fulfills his academic requirements, he will be eligible to take part in spring workouts and play his final season in the fall.

Wilkerson visited with PonyFans.com to discuss the lowest point of his suspension, what it was like to watch his teammates play the 2010 season, and how his outlook is different as he prepares to return to school and to the playing field.

Enjoy!

I never knew you could sit out an academic suspension and reapply without showing some academic success somewhere

I agree with you. This IS great news!

Sounds like Wilkerson has learned a lot about life and about himself. I went through a similar situation (albeit without the athletic scholarship) - I sat out a year (without going anywhere else) and came back, and I had a dedication in the classroom that I'd never imagined I could. I hope the time away does the same thing for Terrance that it did for me.

Welcome back, Terrance!

Sure hope so. His return lessens the loss of Aldrick Robinson.

Great story, PP. Thanks

I hope he makes the most of the opportunity.

Regarding the juco statement in the story, how could SMU say the hours wouldnt count without knowing what classes the credits would be in?

I don't think any transferred hours can count towards the final 30 (or maybe 60) hours of a degree or something like that.

They were super, super picky when I was in school. I tried to get ahead in my degree progression by taking classes at a college back in California between my frosh and soph years (I think it was a 4 year school, a branch of one of the state schools, similar to UNT Dallas if I recall correctly), and SMU said no way. I think it was only a stupid elective course or two, not even a core class for my major.

I would hope this was because the standard of education SMU provides is so much higher, but my cynical side believes SMU wanted the money those few credits would eventually get them.

RGV, weren't you the one that said TW looked fat and out of shape? Says in this article he has lost weight.

I'm the last person that would say another was/is "fat and out of shape"

I might say "unfortunate if true" because..well..it is.

I believe it was Alex or Special D who said that. Maybe he was bundled up for the cold or perhaps had one of those beer belly flasks under his shirt.
