Todd Graham to Pitt thread
I got nothing, just thought it might come up.
Re: Todd Graham to Pitt thread
Graham will be hard to replace at Tulsa. We have been fortunate to beat them. It is a plus for SMU and a minus for CUSA.

we lucked out on that one. They would be very good next year - and still should be.

We lucked out? We were fortunate to have beaten them? Yeesh might as well just apologize to them. We've beaten them 3 out of the last 5 times, and our two losses were by less than a touchdown. Plain and simple, we made more plays than they did and won the game.

We lucked out in the fact we didn't have to play against their stud starting QB as we happened to have knocked him out of the game last year and we caught them this year before they started their Offensive season roll and conversly we started on our bad offensive roll.
They are ranked in the Top 25 pre-season for next year, in several polls.

We held them to 18 points. We beat them. We held them to their lowest scoring total of the year. We beat them last year, on the road, with a freshman QB making his first collegiate start. Plain and simple, we made more plays than they did and are 3-2 in our last five against Tulsa. Our two losses came in both our 1-11 years and were by less than a TD.

I cannot not emphasize enough how much I agree with this statement. I am so tired of hearing all the Tulsa praise when we have beaten them 2 years in a row and 3 of 5. And when everyone talks about their dropped passes, had we caught one right in the receiver's hands 3 years ago, we would have beaten them 3 years in a row. Like it or not, we are as good or better than Tulsa and some folks are just going to have to realize this.

What the hell are you talking about? In the 2009 game in Tulsa, Kyle Padron made his first collegiate start after playing mopup against Houston the week before. I believe we were Tulsa's homecoming opponent. And when their QB got hurt went, that's not our problem. That was Tulsa's.
And I couldn't disagree more about their offensive roll and our roll. You play the damn team in front you. You make adjustments during the game and you everything you can to win it.
I don't get this rationale about so many of our dumba$$ fans feeling guilty about beating Tulsa for the past two years. To heck with that. We won. They lost. And it counts in the record books.
BTW, I nominate mrydel for drafting an apology letter to Graham after he gets settled in at Pitt.

The scoreboard would say we were better. That's really all that matters.
Back off Warchild seriously.
Re: Todd Graham to Pitt thread
there may have been some fortunate drops on Tulsa's part in the game this year, but from my vantage point on the sideline next to OTP, the reason they didnt thrive on offense was because their offensive tackle could not block Taylor Thompson. Easily Thompson's best game I've seen him play. He used and abused the OT play in and play out.

Re: Todd Graham to Pitt thread
UPDATE: On Monday, we wondered who would replace Chad Morris as offensive coordinator for Tulsa. Now it may be Morris who has to hire his replacement.
Dave Sittler of the Tulsa World reports that sources are saying Morris, who was just hired as Clemson's new OC, could be promoted to head coach with Pitt's hiring of Todd Graham.
As Sittler points out, the hire would be a bold one considering the 42-year-old Morris has just one season of college experience as the Golden Hurricanes' OC. Morris does have 16 seasons of high school experience in Texas, and would be a great recruiter. Members of Graham's staff have also reportedly confirmed to insiders that Morris has already been tabbed, and he would promote running backs coach Bill Blankenship to take his OC job.
The very short list behind Morris can't even be called one, because at this point it only includes former TU coach Steve Kragthorpe, who headed the program for three seasons. Kragthorpe was fired in 2006, but Sittler says some boosters would like to see the Tulsa resident get a second shot.

I thought Kragthorpe was hired away by Louisville

Yes, Tulsa hasn't had much "luck" against SMU. Yes, they lost to SMU this yr.
Tulsa was a better football team overall in 2010 than SMU - no question about that - overall they were 10-3 with a complete domination of Hawaii vs our mediocre 7-7 and loss to Army -- this is a message board with opinions, calm down..

Or we've been better than them the last 3/5 times we've played.
