DB Recruiting/Depth
Coaches have done a good job of keeping talented DB recruits and hopefully we have really helped our situation at Cornerback by finding fast, quality prospects. Are there any recruits that are coming to school this spring or do all have to wait until summer ? The good news is we should have the dept. with the numbers....... Last season we actually only beat Tulane when Cornerback Sterling Moore did not start. Without Moore, we were 1-5 and 6-2 with him.

Sterling was a legit shut down corner that you rarely find. The kind that you can put out on an island. I am surprised he's not on any NFL radar?? does anyone know anything regarding this?

Being a local player he's probably on the Cowboys radar but given his knee issues and the time he has missed the past 2 seasons it's doubtful anyone will use a draft pick on him. Much more will be known after private workouts/pro days.

Yeah, the knee issues are a killer. I can't imagine he gets drafted after getting scoped out by team doctors.sbsmith wrote:Blvd_Stang wrote:Sterling was a legit shut down corner that you rarely find. Acc. to Facebook, his doctor gave him some good news, so hopefully he can get back out there and really start training for the draft.

I imagine that if he gets a look it will have to be through June's connections and as a walk-on. With his knee surgery, even if he were invited to the NFL combine (held later this month) he wouldn't have been able to go. I imagine even getting ready to run for SMU's pro day (usually held at end of March / early April) will be a challenge.

We have also lost a number of talented DB corners that would have helped us with depth. McConnico and Gamble are that quickly come to mind that could have helped at corner.westexSMU wrote:Coaches have done a good job of keeping talented DB recruits and hopefully we have really helped our situation at Cornerback by finding fast, quality prospects. Does anyone know about the operation? I thought that once he had it the chronic dislocation problem would be fixed. Perhaps I misread this?

that was my understanding as well, but i think the common sentiment is that he has to prove this before scouts start believing it. he has a shot, but it will be as a free agent in someone's camp.Mexmustang wrote:Does anyone know about the operation?
