Aldrick Robinson plans for Pro Day

Post by PonyPride »

Ran into Aldrick Robinson Monday. He is pretty pleased with the numbers he put up at the NFL Combine (including the 17 reps on the NFL-standard 225-pound bench press and the 4.43 in the 40-yard dash), and said he likely only will run the 40-yard dash and do the broad jump for NFL scouts when they head to Dallas for next Monday's SMU Pro Day. Before committing fully to running, Robinson said he hopes to get a chance to run on the new turf at Gerald J. Ford Stadium. If the new field is slow, he said he might choose not to run at all. Robinson also said he recently had a private workout for the Chicago Bears, who had a scout in the Dallas area. He said he performed well, but added that the Bears didn't give specific feedback about their evaluation of him, nor any prediction about his draft ranking.

I think that testing out the new field before committing to run is a great idea.

Great idea. New fields often "run slow" while the surface gets broken in, before the "blades of grass" (or whatever you call it on turf fields) get bent/broken down a little.
