Women's Soccer loses Spring game to Baylor

Post by DanFreibergerForHeisman »

The Baylor web site finally got around to posting some information about the Spring game between SMU and Baylor Saturday night. We lost 2-0.

(I'm sure they were preoccupied with some other overrated dirty program over the past few days - ha!)

SMU is now 0-1-1 on the spring with the previous home draw to LSU.

The only info in the Baylor article is about Baylor players, so who knows who played for SMU or who might have missed the game injured or anything.

Our big problem last season was not being able to score goals, and in 180 spring minutes so far we are goalless. It's hard to know if it's a concern at this point though.

Next up for SMU is Texas this Saturday at 1pm at Wescott (at least it was on the original schedule of spring games - SMU hasn't updated their online schedules to include spring games like other schools do)

The lack of info about the game was a sure sign we lost. Here's Baylor's release, but like you say, it has very little detail

We have several girls coming off injuries so that works against us but over the last 4 years we have suffered from a dearth of scoring. Every year we hope that turns around but so far, no joy.
Don't confuse me with the facts; I've made up my mind.

SMU played the game with a keeper and nine field players. Obviously the ten on the field got a great workout.

But Baylor played with 11? That'll do it.

I had heard we were really shorthanded this spring - that makes the 2-0 look a lot better for sure.

The funny thing is the Baylor write-up talks about how they "dominated" the game.

Baylor had 11 plus subs. Our 10 played the entire 90 minutes. The only way Baylor can dominate is for SMU to play 10 against Baylor's 11.

Playing 10 on 11 against a team with subs?
In that context, 2-0 really isn't bad at all. Our players had to be completely wiped out by halftime.
