Re: Williams
To me this says less about Fields and more about someone not getting in or not qualifying since we were already over the limit for the year by one scholarship.

Re: Williams
Not sure I totally agree due to the fact the names I am hearing are Wrs and no RB incoming guys...
With Pope moving to LB, we would have Line and Nmechi, so I think they figured they needed another guy...

Re: Williams
played at something called Prep Learning Academy as a Sophomore. Then Bradenton Prep then some kind of eligibility issue/waiver to play at Southeast High

Re: Williams
apparently Bradenton Prep went defunct and there was an issue about his immediate eligibility. Story worth reading on him

Re: Williams
OK the Prep Learning Academy changed its name to Bradenton Prep (or maybe vice-versa) but later dropped football because they had less than 20 players-they played games against schools like Potter's House which I think is related to Bishop T.D. Jakes (Dallas) religious organization. Williams' Dad was AD at Bradenton. Southeast where Williams transferred to and became eligible for playoffs is a public school with an apparantly strong athletic heritage.

Re: Williams
Bradenton Prep looks suspiciously like a diploma mill. They have a long history of rules violations, moved campuses, unpaid teachers, state edcucational investigations, foreclosures, bounced checks, played overaged, graduated players-yet flew across country to play games. They did beat a Texas TAPPS team called Richardson Canyon Creek-never heard of them-55-0. This "high school" was a mess. Hope SMU got some good tape of this kid at Southeast in the playoffs because the level of play otherwise looks very weak. The first story in this thread mentioned that SMU offered after looking at a tape when Bradenton Prep played a Texas area school-presumably Richardson Canyon Creek when they won 55-0. He must be something to offer based on playing such a small private school that probably is smaller than Class A Texas Football-I checked their schedule and Canyon Creek was 5-6 playing another bunch of schools most of which nobody has heard of.

My point is that I doubt we would have offered him if all our committs would have gotten in or qualified even if they know Fields is gone for the year.NickSMU17 wrote:Not sure I totally agree due to the fact the names I am hearing are Wrs and no RB incoming guys...

Walt Williams said once word got out that SMU made an offer, several other Division I schools called him. But Jared already had his mind set on going to the school in Dallas, which plays in Conference USA.

General Info on Florida Eligibility: The FHSAA is the only institution in America that is more evil than the NCAA - The NCAA is at least fighting over large sums of money. The FHSAA doesn't have that excuse.
The FHSAA puts an immediate eligibility freeze on most kids who transfer during their high school career. The player, their family and new school need to appeal the freeze to get them back on the field again. This is done to stop coaches from poaching talent from other programs (see below). It doesn't happen as often when kids go from public to private or vice versa. This move is easily explained as either $$$ or education.
Most schools have academies inside of the school. For example: You are "zoned" for Highland Park, but Southlake has a computer academy that you want to attend. Students can apply for a spot in that academy. If accepted, you can attend Southlake (as long as it is in the same county) and play there.
