UT's Gilbert looking to transfer
Word is that Gilbert is seeking a medical redshirt and hopes to transfer if the request is approved. SMU is included on a relatively short list of possible target schools at this point.

Why would you not want more talent...or are you guys on the 2 star June jones bert hill sleeper list...where we get kids with offers from UTSA and UNT and we all preach how great they are going to be....
Re: UT's Gilbert looking to transfer
If there's a scholarship available, sure — let him come and compete. Not sure he'd go for that arrangement, but based on what he has shown in Austin, he might not have nearly as many options as he might think.

Re: UT's Gilbert looking to transfer
Yeah, former UT starting QB and absolute blue-chip prospect coming out of high school...I wouldn't want him at all for depth or competition. We will wreck the CFB world on the shoulders of total sleepers.
Re: UT's Gilbert looking to transfer
Does anybody know where Tyler Gabbert, little brother of Blaine Gabbert, ended up? At Mizzou he was considered the most accurate QB on the team and that was last year w/ his big brother on the team still. I heard he was interested in Louisville but that he never did commit there. Just curious as to what happened to him???

Re: UT's Gilbert looking to transfer
I say take him. Not exactly taking many high caliber QB recruits around here. The 2013 kid doesn't sign for 16 months-you don't count your recruits until they sign. Plus QBs are natorious transfers if they don't start-so who knows what contenders there would be for the job in 2013

You are a fool if you don't think this guy is good enough to be a top player in C-USA. We'd take him in a heartbeat.

SMT - There is no link to post but maybe you can start a new thread on it once you see it on another website?

No, I will not contact him or anything of the like, but I will keep my SMU flag out so his parents see it.

My SMU flag is in between 2 UT flags, so maybe it will stand out

Re: UT's Gilbert looking to transfer
BTW isn't East Carolina's QB this year yet another example among many of a BCS dropout. If you went back and checked you could easily come up with about 20 examples in recent years of QBs who excelled after failing to earn a job at the BCS level. Of course, Colt Brennan is another example albeit a different resume.

Re: UT's Gilbert looking to transfer
The guy has talent but his head is just not there. He might turn it around if he got a fresh start somewhere. I think the stress of being the starting QB at UT just got to him. Ive never seen a kid on the sideline that looked so happy to not be playing as he was against UCLA.
