Is the SMU Real Estate Society a Cox student organization? Excuse the ignorance, but I've been out of town for a while.

I went to the first meeting of the society when I was still in school...I'm thinking 97 or 98. So yeah, I'm getting old! I was also fascinated by the ability to drink in the Cox school, having had classes 20 feet down the hall a few hours earlier.

this just got trumped yesterday. Garrett Oliver, the head brewmaster at Brooklyn Brewery is coming to town to host a paired beer dinner at Eno's in OC.

No. They couldn't be more dissimilar. There's no drinking/eating until after the presentation. Many people don't even partake and just take off after the presentation has ended.

Whats this crowd like, younger folks, older folks? Social or awkward and overly professional?

Mixture, but leaning towards the older. The younger is mainly seniors and grad students looking to network. I like getting the resume books they put out every meeting to look for interns.

My personal enjoyment of the event tends to revolve around the presentation. Some have been so mind numbing that I felt like I was back in school. I was literally nodding off during the presentation. I was not alone. Some are extremely fascinating. It just depends on the subject matter and the presenter. I just pray its not another hour and a half slide show.

Regardless, it's a great, free event and worth your time if you're in the profession and especially if you're a Mustang.
