I think they will be added solely for a greater Texas/DFW presence.

I think disappointment is something you understand intimately if you are in any way affiliated w/ UNT.
And yes. I think there is a very good chance they get left out of the MWC/CUSA merger. FIU, UTSA, Arkansas State, Utah State, La Tech, UL-Lafayette, MTSU, and FAU are all contenders to fill our vacated spot in CUSA. The only thing that might tilt things in their favor is location and the fact they just built a very nice new stadium. Other than that they offer nothing.

Back off Warchild seriously.

I think that I will continue to be amazed with people's obsession with UNT on this board.

I think they might get in so they will not have to move the CUSA offices, which is something I had been wondering about.

Eh, each program has got to have dreams and goals. CUSA at some point in time is a very reasonable one for them at this juncture.
And I still don't think the merger/agreement thing has been fully hashed out. It won't be for a while either, not until the AQ conferences figure out when they are done. Only when that happens will CUSA, MWC and the WAC figure out who and what they want.
So no, I think they have figured out what they want the next step for their program to be.

i'm ok with it.
la tech would be a good addition also.
that utsa market without a pro team (except spurs, old dallas chaparrals) could be awesome.
texas state should also be in the running. very large school.

Re: I Wonder, is UNT in for a Big Disappointment?
First, I don't see any reason for the merged conference to add anyone, beyond Fresno St. and Nevada who are already coming over next year. There is no reason for the individual conferences to try to get back to 12 teams, since it doesn't do anything for basketball or other sports.
Second, even if CUSA does backfill (maybe as insurance for future defections, or just an attempt at strength in numbers), I think La Tech and Temple should be at the top of the list.

La Tech and UNT would be good. The merger only applies to football. C-USA will need to add schools for basketball and other sports, besides football. It may hurt the bowl guarantees.

Re: I Wonder, is UNT in for a Big Disappointment?
Don't have any idea about UNT. I don't know for sure what our future is. IF we go to the Big East, I don't see CUSA moving to expand on top of the merger. Too many moving parts and adds nothing towards AQ status. One would think the merged conferences would want to see how their new conferences is viewed and then adjust by adding or removing teams as needed to get o AQ status. That might take a year or two.
Re: I Wonder, is UNT in for a Big Disappointment?
I'm sure they'd be glad to let UNT join the new Division II Footb....I mean C-USA/MWC Merger Super conference with it's own playoff system and crowned champion.
