Many of Tulsa's top players hail from the Lone Star State.
G.J. Kinne. Curnelius Arnick. Willie Carter. Ja'Terian Douglas. Those are just four players who cut their teeth on Texas high school football.
TU has benefited from Texas recruits for years. But the numbers - in terms of current players from the other side of the Red River - are at a seven-year low.
The Golden Hurricane will have 22 players hailing from Texas when it meets SMU at 2:30 p.m. Saturday. Just five years ago, the program had its highest number (35) since joining Conference USA in 2005.
