"SMU quarterback J.J. McDermott observed another practice today because of a chipped bone in his right foot. But McDermott has lost the walking boot he wore Tuesday and said he felt better and that he will play Saturday against Tulsa.

McDermott said he suffered the injury in the second quarter last week at Tulsa when he was hit from behind and his foot twisted awkwardly. McDermott said adrenaline kept him going through the game but as soon as it was over he could hardly walk. His right throwing shoulder is a little banged up as well. He's undergone twice daily treatments."
