JJ - No Deep Threat
After watching (painfully) my recording of the Navy game it occurred to me that we have absolutely no deep threat. JJ is not acurate deep so we don't even try it. Our opponents know that, and prepare accordingly. KP did better as a true freshman. What gives?

We threw deep on TCU. What has changed?

Yes Mestengo but he shouldn't have been pulled in the opening game. And he should have been put back in in the second game. We certainly wouldn't be any worse off.

Padron had Sanders and Robinson as a true freshman plus June said something that year about simplifying the offense (calling plays with less option routes) to make things easier for Padron. Once he lost Sanders and was running the full R&S as a true sophomore he started to regress. June has really failed in recruiting impact talent at WR and QB.

TW and Thompson have shown flashes of ability to get deep on defenses, but i agree that it's not as consistent as we would like to see.

KP had a deep threat.

We may not have beaten TCU.

Re: JJ - No Deep Threat
I saw only one opportunity to hit a wide open deep ball (I think it was Wilkerson running a post) but JJMc didn't see him. JJMc has not shown to be accurate enough to hit a deep ball in traffic so I think he needs to find guys running open...which doesn't happen often. Listen to JJ's press conference remarks game after game and he will talk about how few chances there are in any given game. Those of you who have actually attended all our games and watch for these things can probably elaborate

I don't make excuses for the team. Either they perform or not.

I miss having KP. It sucks that we had to play a team like A&M, because he never would have been pulled. Too bad it wasnt a crap Pac 12 team or something. I mean I know people dont trust KP, but I know he has way more talent then McDermott

Yeah, he regressed by setting the all-time SMU single season passing record (yards, TDs, total offense). Wish we had more of that type of regression.
Re: JJ - No Deep Threat
We just need to clone Zach Line a couple of times and run the ball 75% of the time. Also, we should clone him 5 more times so he can block for himself. Zach Line is a beast!
