From the article, the possibility of doing away with AQ status is on the table. If this happens, (as unlikely as it may be) how does SMU proceed?

ACC wont go for it. BE wont go for it. Pac 12 and Big Ten want their beloved Rose Bowl matchup. I think we'll be ok.

I'm sure things could be worked out. That seems like a very easytoovercome list of barriers.

I think an option for them is upgrade a bowl to BCS standing and just make it a tie-in at large teams. Heck even add a second one that way people will be less pissed about the exclusivity of AQ conferences and BCS bowls.

BCS concept was the worst thing that ever happened to college football. It has caused the demise of wonderful regional conferences, totalled rivalries dating back over 100 years, caused animosity among colleges and all to the detriment of the students and fans. The NCAA is the problem for failure to inplement a playoff system. FSB the only group in the NCAA without a playoff.
