BYU beat writer says that it's only a matter of time at this point as BE and BYU are in the final stages of negotiations. Says that he expects a formal announcement "with SMU, Houston, Boise State, Navy, and Central Florida" on Thursday or Friday.

Again, it cannot be underestimated what it means to be going in with BYU. The Big 12 would've taken them over TCU and WVU had they been able to work with BYU's network. Home run for the BE.

Agreed, this is good for the stability and credibility of the BE moving forward. I think it's good for SMU to have BYU in the conference. The Bevo Conference wanted them.

I should probably reiterate that BYU to Big East is "close" and final details are still being worked out. Not a done deal yet.
