Is SMU Ready For Houston?
I have been reading some of the posts on here and it seems you guys are pretty down on the football team right now. I saw a little of the Navy game and it looks like your offense can move the ball. Also, it is always a challenge going against a running option attack like Navy which obviously Houston does not have. So why the despair and pessimism going into the Houston game? What has happened since the TCU game with the football team? Any key injuries?

Even so, those are both supposedly good teams this year. Seems like too many fans are jumping off the bandwagon too quickly. Did those teams have good defenses? Is Houston supposed to have a good defense?
Re: Is SMU Ready For Houston?
This current SMU team seems to function well as an underdog team (well, kinda). I think they'll come out fighting, but will quickly lose confidence.

This team isn't that good and they're playing with no fire at all, that's why people are down on them. Our QB stinks so beating any good teams is out of the question especially teams like Houston with a Heisman candidate at QB and track stars at the other offensive skill positions. The TCU game was a mirage, nothing happened except this team ran into some better, well-coached, disciplined teams and got beaten. Our starting RB Zach Line may be out for the Houston game.

Trust me our butts have been on the seats watching this team every saturday they played. We know that this team died when they stepped off the bus before playing USM. Something happened and they havent been the same. I believed the TCU game was deserved win, and would have won again if we played like that. Right now, we couldnt play and stay within a close range against a decent team. McDermott just blows... Just wait for next year and especially the next few after with our promising recruits. Im watching the stampede just to rewitness the terrible plays... Im like how did McDermott ever become a QB, maybe basketball is more suitable... To sum it up, we are hoping Houston sucks completely, and zach carries the team.

Re: Is SMU Ready For Houston?
Houston is going to face rape us I fear. We don't match up well with them at all. Our defense doesn't handle the NASCAR offense well and we seem to have real difficulty with Houston under Jones. Last year they drilled us at home w/ their 4th string QB. To have any chance of keeping this game close we have to have long, sustained drives that keep the ball away from Keenum and create turnovers. I've seen nothing the last few weeks that lead me to believe we can do that. If I'm SMU I bring pressure EVERY SINGLE DOWN. If they beat us by GOD they are going to do it with Keenum on his backside all day.
Back off Warchild seriously.

Is SMU Ready For Houston?
As KTP says, they are going to bad rape us
Re: Is SMU Ready For Houston?
I remember last years game as well. After the 2 hour weather delay, they ran the ball through us like salt water through a widow woman. Its going to be ugly. Whats the over/under on INTs we commit? 3-4?

Man some of y'all really sound like pathetic "fans". If you think a bunch of kids are just going to go out there and purposely get humiliated you are out of your mind

I pray they prove us wrong, but most of us are pretty rational people. We look at previous data and facts they arent giving us a good trend. However the fact espn gameday and fox sports is on... it might motivate them, but for people like McDermott having almost the same amount of touchdown and interceptions is a career killer (well getting 25% is a career killer). I almost dare say that Line should just stay out of the spotlight and not damage his image and just heal for the rice game.

They aren't going to purposely get humiliated, but let's not fool ourselves into thinking that our defense can somehow stop the number one offense in the game. And our anemic offense (JJ looks awful, and Line might be out) doesn't give me confidence that they can outlast Houston in a shootout. We all probably would love to be proven wrong though. If being realistic makes me less of a "fan," so be it.
