Big East Talk
Quick Question for my new friends in Dallas. What are you hearing out of Dallas from Dodds or Castilogne about the Big XII considering Louisville or BYU for their next additions to the Big XII in the coming years?
Apparently, the Big XII was told West Virginia and TCU were the two best "TV Marketing" options available which made the Big XII skip over inviting Louisville and BYU as originally planed.
I believe it is imperitive we follow the Big XII's lead and mandate that all Big East teams sign over their future TV rights to the conference for the next 10 years. It is the only way to ensure true stability.

Re: Big East Talk
Welcome to ponyfans. We look forward to joining you all soon.
No real info about the whorens and their little beatches. Only info is that they and OU. prefer not to have a championship game so they will probably not expand in the near future.
Of course, BYU to the BE would kill part of the deal you mention. We have heard L'ville and Cincy. However with the new members in the BE I think they would be foolish to leave. JMHO.
GO PONIES!!!

While it does appear BYU will come to the Big East now, I'm afraid they would jump ship (just like Syracus, West Virginia, Pitt, TCU have done) if the Big 12 comes calling.
Re: Big East Talk
Once BYU joins BE, I think they would keep their word. Boise and BYU want to be in the same conference. Louisville is the one that would jump ship, they have been mentioned quite a bit in the last few months.

Re: Big East Talk
Just remember there may not be a ship to jump too. We are assuming that the B12 is now stabilized and not in jeopardy of losing anymore of its teams to other conferences. I can easily see UT flexing its muscle again in the future and further scaring schools like OU into jumping ship. Remember it wasn't that long ago that their was talk of the B12 going away and the BE cannibalizing some of the left overs. Could still happen in the future. Neither conference is safe.
Re: Big East Talk
BYU adds major major TV markets with the BE move and would doubt they would move after committing. Th Western Division of the BE is ideal for them.

The western division is shaping up to be pretty tough. This, in my mind, is shaping up to be deeper and a better BE than what currently (season 2011) we are seeing. Obviously with TCU and WVU it could have maybe even taken the next step forward and overtaken the ACC.

Re: Big East Talk
BYU wants their non-football sports in a league that will not play on Sundays. The Big 12 wants all-sports teams and won't make that deal. That makes a football only deal with the Big East better for BYU.

If you dont remember our history with them, I'll put it simply: BYU does whats best for BYU, "word" is not a factor in the equation.

We were in this conference once before. Back then it was called the WAC.

I don't believe West Virginia brings a good TV market. Wasn't that one of the problems with them joining the ACC? Along with not being a highly respected academic school.

I think this conference is better than the WAC 16. It is currently the best basketball conference in the country and will still be one of the top 2-3. Football-wise I think our division is much improved as the teams have improved since then (aside from BYU and Air Force which have maintained) and you have to consider that we will be playing the desirable WAC teams so that is a plus.

Just curious with WVU gone, we need 7 teams... we have a possible/for sure 6 teams: Boise, BYU, A/F, UCF, SMU, Cougar High. Who else is in the mix? With these teams, you think we should focus on a basketball school to make the old BE members and BB only members happy? Throw in Memphis and have good basketball, win in football, and destroy CUSA.

BYU was going to be the seventh, but now with AF dragging their feet, if BYU jumps on board then AF will become the seventh at some point.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
