While we may be able to enjoy the AQ status of the Big East for a while, it's hard to argue against this plan (although I can imagine certain points being very debatable). The best bowls should be reserved for the top teams, and I think it's fair to say that no one wants to see a repeat of UConn in the Fiesta Bowl.
I do think it would make sense to add that any team ranked in the top 8, "AQ" or not under the current system, should be in a major bowl.

Why not have a real playoff then? One that includes the winner of all (8 or 9) conferences? Result should be that the top teams end up in the BCS bowls, right?

No NCAA playoff. Now that we are part of the cartel it's time to break away and form our own governing body. Start playing players, form our own league without the likes of UNT, Rice or Tulane. Then have a real playoff.
