Act Like Grown Ups
It is really sad that people feel a need to call our players names and refer to them on this board as "clowns" etc. I am just as disappointed as anyone with the team's play the past several weeks and it is clear that the coaches don't have the personnel they need to consistently compete with better than average teams. But remember that these young guys are amateurs, they devote many hours and suffer major and minor physical injuries on behalf of SMU. I'm sure that they don't like losing anymore than we like watching them lose. Show a little class. I know that a lot of recruits and their families monitor these boards. It would be nice if we could talk about the team without personal attacks against these kids. Act like a grown up for goodness sake.

I agree - criticize, but don't get personal.

Yup. So many things to criticize McD about for his on-field play. Namecalling just a waste of time.

This was my point on another thread. Criticizing is part of the game but derogatory name calling, especially if you have not experienced the sacrifices they go through is just not good.

I have never criticized one player, I only give praise, our defense was awesome, just a shame that we have a coach caught in the eighties that refuses to update his ineffective offense.
Or those that want to blame it on talent need to answer why we have so many ineffective players on offense when June has been recruiting and signing them all these years.
I still say the season was lost when June pulled Kyle after a couple of picks against A&M. Kyle has the tools and had been preparing all Spring and all AUgust, yet JUne thought McDermott was the answer...
How could an offensive genius miss the mark by that much?
Probaly won't happen...BUT...maybe it will!!

Why don't you compare the Jr and Sr classes Rivals rankings for SMU vs. HOU, SMISS, and TULSA

Seriously, it's time to stop basing analysis on what guys did coming out of high school and the opinions that were formed about those players by "analysts" whose job is not even to analyze talent ... it's to sell subscriptions.

To ram this point home, remember that we potentially have recruits and their friends and families that could come on here. This happens. It's one thing to make our fans look like a holes in front of each other; it's another thing to make our fans look like a holes in front of them.

Question. Is calling JJ McDermott -McInterception - really an insult? Or rather a shortening of his name (like everyone on here does w/ JJ or jjMcD) and adding a FACT to it by stating he throws interceptions
Ok this is getting ridiculous...I agree with Dutch on THIS ONE POST by him totally

Re: Act Like Grown Ups
Of course not. The guy sucks. It's not his fault. There is a reason Mee Mexico State was the only school that recruited him out of high school. Two more games and I can throw him in the delete folder with Tate Wallis, Justin Willis, Jared Romo, Tony Eckert, Logan Turner, and BLM.
Back off Warchild seriously.
Re: Act Like Grown Ups
I have said one kid has dropped to many passes and two can not quarter back. I apologize to anyone that I may have offended
May want to add one can't coach or recruit too

Re: Act Like Grown Ups
Two things:
1. It is not JJ McDermott's fault that he is currently SMU's best option for QB. While I don't think he has the talent to start at QB on a successful NCAA FBS team, if he is the best we've got power to him.
2. I understand the desire to blame June Jones for not having better options, but recruiting takes time, especially at a school like SMU that is just now establishing a winning tradition. Our highly touted recruiting classes were in 2010 and 2011 so they are now true freshmen and redshirt freshmen. We are winning with Phil Bennet and PB-like recruits right now. The improvement will start to show when we pile up classes like 2010, 2011, and this season. While we have seen coaches like Nick Saban, Pete Carroll, Jim Tressel, Larry Coker, Les Miles, etc. arrive at new programs and win national championships by their fourth season on campus, keep in mind that they all inherited successful programs that had great recruits despite their failure to win under previous coaching regimes. June Jones did not have that luxury when he got here, so it is going to take a little bit longer than you want. We live in an age of instant gratification and it seems as though most of you do not know what is behind success in athletics. Believe me, it doesn't happen overnight, it takes a lot of repetition. Be patient and support the team. If we do not start to see improvement once the 2010 class starts to mature then your rants are justified. Until then, enjoy going to Bowl games, which we had not been to in 20+ years before June got here.
