Great FS Southwest piece
Apologies if this has already been posted. I didn't see it here.
This piece sums up exactly how I feel right now.

Great article. It says it all!!
BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!
For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.

I might add that JJ can help motivate the student body, who have been inconsistent and more focused on their social schedule vs. attending FB (and BB for that matter).
Candidly, JJ, as I am, is probably disappointed in the student body spirt (and attendnace). However, let's solve it together, including markeing efforts. Let's sell the students and set expectations that BE FB and BB will increase the quality and opportunity to make spectator sports an appealing part of student life.

Re: Great FS Southwest piece
best part:
He needs to get in front of every TV camera and microphone he can find and give a speech that Knute Rockne would envy. He won’t convince everyone his full focus is on SMU, but right now no one believes that.
The way the Arizona State situation was bungled, Jones owes it to SMU. All the school has ever done is given him just about anything he wants.

Agreed. That's what he SHOULD do, but nothing in his past from what I can tell makes me believe he will do that. I think he sees himself as a COACH and that's about it.
HIS perspective: He's not head of the marketing department, he's paid to win games and he can point to a lot of data that shows he's been wildly successful here in that arena especially at what was here before him and what he was brought on to do (I bet he thinks his work at SMU is done and is ready to move on to the next challenge ... 3 bowls in 4 years, 3 winning seasons, best recruiting class since DP, move to AQ conference, ready to pass that along to next guy).
That's about it. The guy doesn't strike me as a mental giant. I don't think he understands -- or wants to put much effort behind it anyway -- that being a college coach also includes being a cheerleader and community builder. He does do some things charitable-wise and his car accident probably made him more philosophical about things, but again he doesn't strike me as being very wise in terms of seeing beyond his nose. IMHO.

I really enjoy Fox Sports. I wish they had bigger TV contracts and their own sports news channel like ESPN. This was a great read, and I do hope JJ sees it. An announcement asap would be appropriate and also to apologize to the hardcore fans for trying to skip town. I can assure you ASU is not a good destination for so many reasons.

Jones sees himself as a pro coach - he doesnt do the things other college coaches do - no rah rah, no rally the troops - he is a offensive geek and thats about it. i wouldnt say he has been wildly successful either - unless 500 ball against average competition is wildly successful to you. Compared to where we were, yes, successful - but not Peterson/Patterson/Sumlin successful.
