Can you imagine...
the humiliation Jones must have felt through this? He publicly turned his back on SMU and sought "greener" pastures, was told he had the ASU job and proceeded to burn bridges, only to find that the alumni and deep pockets of ASU, in no uncertain terms, said NO WAY were they going to let him be hired. He was publicly and roughly told he was not wanted. My God! How humiliating to have to come back to SMU with his tail literally between his legs. With his ego, this had to be traumatic. I, for one, am sorry he had to go through this, but I am even sorrier that he has permanently damaged my faith in him as our coach. I just hope the team pulls itself together and plays for pride, SMU and each other.

I don't know if he feels humiliated at all. I am sorry the players have to go thru this. They must feel dumped on.
Keep your heads up, boys! iif this has p!ssed you off, channel that emotion and take it out on Pitt.

ASU treated him shabbily and left him with his rear end hanging out the window. But college sports is a big business and coaches make career moves just like everyone else. There are only a few top tier programs where coaches cannot be easily poached. We are not one of them. There is nothing to take personally about any of this. It's business and a lot of coaches will leave a lot of schools in order to take more attractive jobs this year and every year thereafter. In my lifetime we hired away Dave Smith, Ron Meyer, Bobby Collins and June Jones from colleges that badly wanted to keep them and suffered because they were gone. Its just business.

June isn't humiliated cause June wanted to be at SMU all along. June turned down ASU not the other way around. Right?

I think its funny as hell that a fan poll could be 97% against hiring the Coach who actually got offered. 15 pages of we don't want that fool. Congrats you finally served as a unifying force to a fan base.

No fences to mend and nothing to apologize for, he did everything on the up and up. Gotta give some props to God, this is the second time he has intervened on our behalf regarding June Jones, definitely want to see him hanging around the program more.

There is no doubt that we cant bash JJ anymore. I think we made our voices clear in peoples' articles on ESPN, SMU DC, Fox Sports... plenty of them for him to read. Heck, I wish he had an account to go on here and see that he had a lot of faithful fans, who have been donating, and trying to bring as many fans as they could to the games. The thing I dont get is, he knows theirs no marketing, no help from Bevo Corp or really any media outlet. Our Stampede show airs on unpopular days and times, so only the faithful and random viewers watch it. He knew we were going to the Big East, Im sure (wish they invited us earlier) which meant that S.O. could get a marketing department together... So why all the sudden just burn and run, all because people of Dallas doesnt show up to his games? It takes time at least 25% of the total time of irrelevancy...
