So I'm reading through these threads. . .
. . .and here are the messages I'm getting:
1. June Jones is nothing but an ungrateful lying dirty bastard who has no honor and would gladly sell SMU down the river.
2. The above is totally and completely unacceptable because June apparently OWES us something other than a winning football team.
3. Accordingly, the best course of action is to fire June immediately, just as we are preparing for our bowl game and right in the middle of recruiting season. That way, we can have the pleasure of embarking on an HC search at an extremely convenient time for the program. It'll be great. . .the new staff will have a roster full of players recruited to the RnS system who will get to adjust to a completely new system and they should have at least 2-3 solid weeks of recruting time to put the finishing touches on a new class of RnS recruits who will be asked to play in a new system. And to top it off, Turner and Orsini will get to go to the CoC and ask for a multi-million dollar check to hand June as he walks out the door. I'm sure the CoC boosters will be thrilled about that.
4. Adrian Klemm, on the other hand, is the savior of this program. If he goes, we're finished. The DP will be nothing compared to that calamity. All of our recruits will scatter to the four winds and we'll be playing FCS ball in a year.
5. In order to stop said calamity, the prudent thing to do is to fire June Jones immediately and make Klemm our head coach. Of course, Klemm does not have any HC experience, or any coordinator experience, or really very much coaching experience period. But that's OK, because we want our next coach to have to learn how to be an HC on the job. Nothing produces Ws like that (See Phil Bennett).
Folks, I was as pissed at June on Wednesday as anyone. I really do think the timing of the ASU mess and how it rained on our Big East parade was unacceptable and needs to be addressed IN PRIVATE. But we're starting to sound like a bunch of Aggies here.
Take a deep breath. Its time to move on. Whatever needs to happen at this point will be handled behind closed doors and away from the media, which is exactly how it should be handled.
One other thing. . .coaches come and coaches go. I can assure you that Adrian Klemm will leave SMU when the right opportunity comes along. Get used to that idea. We're lucky to have had him here while we did. But if you think Klemm is or can be made into an "SMU Man", you're deluding yourself. And when he goes, we'll wish him the best and move on. The model is in place for this program to succeed going forward. That is not dependent on any one person.

Very well said. Some of these posts are really getting embarrassing. I've even seen some players on FB starting to criticize some of the morons on here because they are just spouting off and have absolutely NO idea what they are talking about.
Stop all the criticism and let's get behind this program and ALL who are a part of it!
Go 'Stangs!!!

Couple of housekeeping items for you guys.
1) Mr. Gilbert: I do not think he has signed anything with SMU at this point. It is my understanding that, as of the weekend after the Texas A&M game, he was 100% unaware of any pending move to ASU by JJ - for whatever that is worth. However, as time has passed, he has begun to second guess transferring at all because he loves Texas and loves his team. UT coaching staff has indicated that if he chooses to return, he will have a clean slate to work from and can compete for the starting role in 2012. I personally do not think Gilbert has any shot in hell of running out of the tunnel at DKR as starting QB again. He was booed off the field, after all.
I think the main driver here is that he questions whether or not he has a legitimate opportunity to play football beyond college and is otherwise happy at Texas. Ultimately, his decision will come down to one factor (medical) and has to be made soon. I suspect he will likely transfer to SMU as long as JJ indicates to him that there is some stability there.
2) ASU mysteriously pulled their offer from the table on Wednesday afternoon according to Leigh Steinberg. It is my understanding that this decision was not really the result of upset ASU boosters as the media (SMT/Nick's pay sites) indicated, but more so under pressure from the University's Office of General Counsel. Tortious interference, anyone?

Thats fine, but the fact of the matter is people here have an opinion and whether you think its right or wrong, doesnt discredit it. Also whomever players actually criticize what fans are frustrated about are just as naive and oblivious to what had transpired. Some of the posts on here could be outlandish but it brings up discussion and helps knock thoughts around from the general, "we should support him no matter what" or "fire him immediately"
Also I like aggies, and I wish we were in their situation more than us. Recruiting never sucks for them, even though they will be trampled in SEC, the rate at we are going with this debacle: we will be trampled in the Big East.
ojaipony, simply saying everybody you disagree with is a moron isnt a valid statement, and telling people that they shouldnt criticize JJ. They have every right to be upset. Do I agree with making Klemm HC or fire JJ immediately or buy him off? No of course not. Should they be able to say it? Of course. Also we dont need to call our own fans morons, I can say for sure that something will happen next that will either change your minds or their minds (press release, statements, player's opinions, bowl win/loss) just give it time, its only been the 2nd day.
Gilbert I dont think wants to return to any big program again, I think he will be more successful running in CUSA or Big East. I agree though, why waste your time if the coach isnt here or committed. I dont know why ASU would target us other than JJ was their only option. I dont think they were out to get us or ruin us. If they wanted to do that, all they had to do was fine were AK was and talk to him and buy him out (much cheaper and better).

Yes, Time to move on - bowl game to be played and June is here for now whether you like it or not.

I'm all for free speech and of course anyone can state their opinions. I was stating mine. Moving on.

Re: So I'm reading through these threads. . .
actually I was reading Shaggy Bevo a couple of days ago and well over half of the posters on a pretty long thread thought that they would have been better off this year had he been healthy. Actually wouldn't surprise me if he did go back to Texas because he wouldn't lose a year of transfer, he could count last year as medical redshirt and still have 2 years not 1 year to play. They probably don't want to start a true freshman so it comes down to whether they are better off with Gilbert, Ash or McCoy.

If the shoulder really needs more time, he will transfer to buy a year. If he thinks he can compete, he will stay. I will let you know what he is thinking in the next few weeks.
More interesting to me that no one commented on my note about ASU above. Credible source tells me the concern of their GC office resulted directly from a phone call placed by an SMU representative. Sounds like someone was playing hardball with ole JJ.

If that's truly the case, then I say "good for us!"
We may not yet be Top 25 on the football field, but I'm pretty damn sure we're Top 25 in the courtroom. So go suck it ASU.
