Jared Williams
Broke his femur bone and going into surgery.
Re: Jared Williams
That really sucks for him, but it looked like the pitt guy was concerned for him.
Re: Jared Williams
Thoughts and prayers. Keep your head up Jared, bright future
Re: Jared Williams
Poor guy. That stuff always worries me. I hope he pulls through beautifully.
I remember that San Jose State player who broke his leg at UTEP and later had to have an amputation. I forgot his name but his brother played some NFL for Philadelphia. I think it was Neil Parry.
Get well soon JW.

Re: Jared Williams
said on the broadcast that his parents were with him. That helps, especially assuming he will not be able to return to Dallas on same flight as the rest of the team

Is he having the surgery in Birmingham or are they going to get him back to Dallas first? Sure would be nice to have it done at home but sometimes with these things time is crucial.

Thoughts and prayers with Jared and family. Know that your SMU family cares and is concerned.
It makes sense to me.

After the pain I feel for Jared, this kid is next. I blitzed a QB once and as he turned to avoid, I heard his knee completely rip apart. It is devastating to hear and witness and you could tell it affected this kid deeply.

Re: Jared Williams
As bad as a femur break is (and having never experienced it I'm sure it's extremely painful) and as long as the recovery period will be, it's probably still better than having a knee torn to shreds.
Average time to recover from a broken femur is 6 months...I would assume that Jared has a shot at being back next season, or worst case he uses next year as a redshirt year and still has 3 to play.
Hopefully it all goes well and both Williams and Taglianetti recover fully.

BHM hospitals have some of the best orthopedic sports medicine surgeons in the country.

If he's having surgery, it's probably to insert a rod in his femur. He will be walking in 2-3 weeks. He will have to take out the rod after it heals.
ps: they drill it down from the top of the femur.

That is good but I was thinking more about recovery. No fun being in a hospital in a strange town. Do not know how long it will be before he could get home.
