Don't forget Cole Loftin
He had his share of injuries with a broken collarbone and torn ACL and it's been a tough go for him.
He did see some time on the field this year, but I believe he can step in at Beasley's position and be a solid possession, move-the-chains type of guys. He's a great competitor.
Should be interesting how his spring progresses and where he fits.

I was thinking the same thing. Actually he started ahead of Beasley his freshman year before he got hurt.

Re: Don't forget Cole Loftin
I think Cole Loftin saw the field whenever our running back was taken off the field and we went with 5 wide receivers. I expect Jeremy Johnson to take over Cole Beasley's starting spot, and Cole will back up one of the slot positions, and be the extra man again in 5 WR sets.

Based on what has been written, it sounds like the coaches expect this, too.

In that 48-7 loss to TCU in 2008, he caught the only touchdown pass of that game and was tought. I think he broke his collarbone in that game.
If June and his staff really give Cole the chance to compete, I'm convinced he can contribute. He's got really good hands.
Re: Don't forget Cole Loftin
Wasn't he also the one that dropped a TD pass in the endzone against Houston at the end of the game at Ford during Bo's first season?
Remember it was third down and we went for the win and he was wide open and flat out dropped it. THen on 4th down, we didnt convert and game was over.

I'll take my chances with him, Shadowman.

Wasn't saying he couldn't play, was just trrying to see if my memory was correct, could have been another receiver, but I think it was him.
Anyway, hope he can step in next year and take the place of Beasley.

We for sure need somebody to step up. This year it was pretty much all Beas and DJ. Without Beas, a lot more focus will be put on DJ. I have a feelin JJ will be in Beasleys spot, but I wouldnt mind seeing what Loftin can do if he started a few games now.
Hopefully one of the outside guys will break out also.

Re: Don't forget Cole Loftin
Exactly right. I'm with those who assume it will be Jeremy Johnson filling Beasley's role, but if Loftin beats him out ... great. I don't care, as long as another guy steps in and becomes a go-to threat like we have had there.
But Football4ever is right -- we need more production from the outside guys. Der'Rikk Thompson had his moments, and last year it looked like Keenan Holman might break out, although I gather he was dinged up all season. Maybe Ace Holleman is the guy. Who knows? But if we can find a consistent vertical threat on the outside, I would assume that will open up a lot more space in the running game and for the passing game in the shorter and intermediate routes.

I beleive it was Beasley who dropped the pass
