Bleacher Report
...says that Tulsa and we are the "Contenders" in the West (everyone else losing too much). ECU and UCF in the East Division. He thinks 6-2 in Conference should put us in the Title game only to lose to UCF. I think I can see 4-1 in the West and 2-1 in the East for us. He might be right. What do you think?

I think you should look into what bleacher report actually is before posting anything from that site. We've been over it ad nauseum at this point.

Re: Bleacher Report
Bleacher Report is pretty garbage, but I agree that we have a great shot to win the division next season. Our defense could end up being better and I think the offense will be much improved without McDermott.

Check the # of O line starts before you get too excited.
Re: Bleacher Report
I'm not too worried about the O line. We have some talented guys stepping in.
The O line showed a lot of room for improvement this year and they had the most combined starts in the country. Experience helps, but it isn't everything.
I firmly believe that improved QB play alone will make us a better team next year

Re: Bleacher Report
I tend to agree about the QB (Padron, Gilbert, Preston, Kaiser in the mix) alone improving the offense. Now let's see what the new kids on the block can do for the offensive line. Defense should certainly be as good or better with returning players. "Defense wins Championships". Plus an award winning punter in Longoria and talent on the Special Teams. Should be an interesting Spring. Signed: An Old Sunshiner.

Re: Bleacher Report
I agree QB situation should be better but the really tough part last season is when Padron hurt his back just when McD was really banged up. We were down to a half of a QB.

I read an article a couple years back, which claimed the #1 predictor of wins was the total number of starts by a teams offensive line. Think this was in the Wall Street Journal, of all places. Hope it is wrong. I agree SMU's very experienced O line was not great last season, and QB play should improve this year. Also, If you read Phil Steele you know he is big on returning starters in his forcasts.
Re: Bleacher Report
And the experienced O-line helped us to an 8-5 (should have been 9-4) season. But it takes a village as they say and this offense needs a healthy, accurate QB as well to win more games. So...we'll see.
