Re: Drew Article
on your death bed, you never say, "i wish i hadn't hired the cousin of that AAU coach so that i secured that commitment, even though that guy got us in the dance" Probably you are just happy you got in the dance.
If it is borderline but barely legal Drew will do it. We may not like the way it smells - but programs that have to be built from scratch (i.e.SMU) have to make those calls. Its not like they were Kentucky before he got there.

Re: Drew Article
For those of us who remember the Pony Express and the days before the death penalty there are some quotes in this article that sound familiar.
“If you lose, people shake your hand. When you start winning, they will start throwing darts at you.”
has become an unlikely national title contender, disrupting the balance of power in the Big 12. (SWC)
Drew, 41, wears a perpetual smile and is as optimistic a coach as one will find in a profession laden with the paranoid, the cutthroat and the workaholic. He is a skilled recruiting salesman (Sounds like Ron Meyer)
Look out Baylor, the whorns are going to take you down.....

For what it's worth, DJ Cooper came out and denied that the story was true. Said that Drew and Pearl both called before he signed his LOI.
Re: Drew Article
Baylor head BB coach Jim Haller was determined to have committed major NCAA violations back in the mid 80s, followed by our old friend Dave Bliss, (who I understand is in trouble in his current job). Now this. Looks like a pattern. Of course Saint Teaff kept the football team off of probation despite very un-Baptist like recruiting techniques (according to some of my high school friends who went there on official visits) back in the day.

Did you not read the story where the kid retracted everything?

Re: Drew Article
There nothing in either of those articles that amount to JACK. Everytime I read something about Drew its always vaugue innuendos-nothing concrete
"With a quarter of a tank of gas, we can get everything we need right here in DFW." -SMU Head Coach Chad Morris

Re: Drew Article
Wasn't there a former head coach at TCU that was fired for recruiting violations then hired as the football recruiting cooridinator at Baylor? Wasn't one our our alumns that was banned from SMU the same one that appeared in the Dave Bliss--Baylor story? I wonder if there is a pattern here?
