Name Recognition

Post by S....M....U »

I just met three new people at the bar. And after each of them separately discovered my alma mater, they brought up how big our hire was and went on to talk about Larry b. then they proceeded to congratulate me on our move to the big east and our academic reputation. Weeks ago these kids would have said...smu is that in Missouri? People outside of our small circle are taking notice of what we have set out to accomplish and feel we can succeed. This is a great time to be a mustang.

i was in NYC this week and working with a few Georgetown grads. Man, i can't wait to go to MSG for an SMU vs. Georgetown brawl in the BE tourney. That will be an epic scene for some of us that have suffered through the past 20 years (if we are competitive that is).

I think this will really hit us in our first game that counts and we see Brown patrolling the sidelines.

Too bad SMU won't come close to G'town for years to come.

If the Hoyas hire Allen Iverson as their practice coordinator, SMU will beat them.

Look, we're not kidding ourselves. We have a LONG way to go to be competitive in the Big East, and with teams like Georgetown, but we are jumping head first into the big boys pond. With LB, a great staff, Moody renovations, entrance into the Big East, and obvious changes in who we'll admit/recruit, we are now a player with a very high ceiling.

SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
