SMU-Baylor
Hi SMU Fans - before you shoot me I come in peace. I am a Baylor Bear but I have always liked SMU. I hope you guys are next to join the Big 12. Used to love to watch SMU-Baylor play in the 1980s. There were some great games.
Just wanted to get SMU fans opinion on the Baylor game. We are all undefeated and hopeful of a good year. I bought my tickets to the Baylor-SMU game and just want to see what you guys think Baylor will be like this year and what you expect from the game.
Good luck!

OK, I'll bite. I think our defense can hold Baylor to 28 points. I think we'll get 3 sacks on Florence and I HOPE our offense will score at least 29 in that case. Should be a good, close game.
Re: SMU-Baylor
It was good to see Baylor have a good season last year. I have some friends and co-workers who are Baylor alums, and like us, they've seen their share of bad games the last several years. While I would love to see us join the Big 12, I don't see that happening. I hope you guys have a good season, and will likely root for you in every game but 1. See you Labor Day weekend!

Oh, it won't even be close. Baylor is very much superior across the board, we are just thankful to be invited to play them. Prediction: 100-0 Baylor.

Anybody's guess as to what SMU team shows up.
At times last year the team didn't show up for games.
Then we looked pretty good in the bowl game.
It appears we have made a huge upgrade at QB.
But O-line is a big question mark.
Since being at SMU...June has never really had the right QB.
If we now have a QB that can excel in June's R&S.
Then we could finally see something very special.

Re: SMU-Baylor
I think we will be more prepared this yr than the first game last year at A&M...we seemed pretty intimidated and I don't think that will be the case this year. We are a talented team with an underrated D. If our O-line protects GG, then we could light up Phil's Defense like TCU did. I think we will hold Baylor below 30...if we do, we will win.
It's also funny to me that Baylor fans think we will bring less than 1,000 fans. That will not be the case. We will have a great following.

I'm just hoping our starting QB makes it on the team bus. Once that happens, it's a whole different year from last.

Re: SMU-Baylor
The fans we have are some of the most loyal in the country. Nobody has fans that have been as tested with adversity as our fans - so we had every reason to start from 0 four years ago. Add that to the fact that we are among the five smallest division 1 schools - which means less students and alumni to draw from - and you see the challenge. Nice to see us picking up steam in that area - a nice showing on the field and in the stands in Waco will be another positive step.
We are sold out on our seats - so go buy their seats and lets pack that place.

I'm hoping to see a shootout like Baylor-TCU opener last year....
With SMU finishing on top of course

I hope we can sling it and put up points like we did against TCU, UCF, and Memphis. I think if GG plays like he is capable we can easily do it against their defense. I'm also hoping out defense lives up to its potential. I especially do not want to see us come out flat like we did last year at A&M

SMU brought 3.5k in 2003. That will be the floor for this one. Probably hits around 5k with a max of 7.5k.

Re: SMU-Baylor
From what I have read about this year, BU's O will continue to be strong and consistent. The D will be the less consistent side of the ball this year as it was sometimes last year.
Our O was great against weaker talent last year. With better teams and athletes, our O was almost nonexistent. And the Oline that was a 'strength' last year struggled the most against better talent.
Our D has amazingly been our most consistent side of the ball for three years. And our D has been constant in its inability to create turnovers.
IF, and these are ifs, our Oline can be consistent and average against better talent then our O is more productive against better talent this year. If we can create more turnovers this year than last year, than we can have a much better year. If our D continues to play strong consistent football then we can hold other teams down enough to win.
So for BU, I think it will come down to how well our O plays. If it is consistent then this will be a competitive game. If not, then BU wears out our D and it becomes a very difficult game for us to win.

Amen to that stlhockeyguy02. Shadow our qb's 24x3 prior to the bus departing.

Re: SMU-Baylor
The biggest thing we have going for us in this game is that we are playing Phil Bennetts defense, who ranked #116 in total D last year...
