i don't know, what does June have two years left on his contract after this year? Can you really blame the CoC for not wanting to eat $6 million by firing him after last season over the ASU flirtation? It might have been the best thing, but it would have been really hard to pull that trigger. He has still done some good things here over the past 4 years and he didn't commit a crime or anything by flirting with ASU. It happens. The problem is he does not seem to be overcoming the doubt he cast on the program with energy and hard work to make up for it. right now this feels like a rudderless ship. Either Jones has to right the ship or jump off of it.

Hey, I am still a fan. After two 1-11 seasons, there were three bowl games. It is a process.

I'm still a June supporter. Nobody's perfect. In my mind, June has made 4 big mistakes:

1) Not adapting his offense in year one to the talent he had on the roster. Although I have to give him kudos for changing the O to feature Shawnbrey in Year 2.

2) Promoting Klemm to a teaching position and all the fallout from recruiting players who didn't have a chance to get into the school and having unprepared underclassmen on the OL

3) Not being aggressive enough in recruiting, or hiring recruiting coordinators who can be.

4) Not getting behind and supporting SMU's traditions: colors, horses, etc.

But on the other side of the coin, June has taken the laughing stock of DI football and made it relevant again (at least in CUSA). Three bowls in a row. And probably most significantly, having enough stroke to force some positive change in administration and support for our student-athletes.

I think June is used to getting a lot better support from his fan base, which based on some of the statements that I heard, may have been one reason he entertained overtures from ASU. So I can't blame him for that even though it probably caused some short-term negative effects in recruiting.

We still have a long way to go from a administration/support standpoint before we can be fully competitive. Lots of blame to go around, and only a little bit is June's, although I guess eventually the buck does stop with him -- fairly or not. I just don't see how getting a new coach in here and changing everything can possibly improve the situation. We need to win NOW in order to keep the forward momentum, and changing coaches, schemes, terminology and all that certainly won't help.

if you really believe number 3, you cant come to the conclusion you have made in your last pp. it will require a new coach to get the kind of recruiting we need to keep relevant.

Yep let's put a good bit of the blame on Klemm as opposed to where it should be. You June to the death supporters will do anything to defect to blame off June. Don't worry SMU will probably win enough games to barely go to a bowl game and you can live in the pool mediocrity for which you seem to embrace. June recruited the QB's who can't seem to throw the ball and signed off on the receiver who don't seem to catching the ball.

If we get a new coach ppl will sympathize, if we get a better spirited coach we can get the recruiting train going its not like we have any 4 or 5 stars that are looking at us. Getting a new coach can treat this abysmal season as practice for BE since CUSA teams are garbage and we will not get gain any props beating CUSA teams but what we do need is something good going into the big east or otherwise we can just enjoy 2-10 or 3-9 seasons and be right back to laughing stock. If JJ gives two [deleted] about our future open the play book or try other ones... Show some f-ing emotion, wear school colors, get out or get someone going of the road and recruit top candidates...

For the June supporters

1) What progress have we made since December 24, 2009?

2) Should we make coaching decisions based on the past, or on the future?

3) Is past performance an indicator of future results?

and #4) what level of players will we have for next year. We lose a lot of starters at the end of this season and JJ's refusal to sub players means that those who will start will have very little playing experience. I think our current O line gives us a good idea of what we will be facing.

In College Football if your frame of reference is only on what is happening on the field you are missing the big picture. You need to focus on recruiting, development of players too in classes who haven't even played yet. Look 2-3 years down the line. I realize few do that but you have a better perspective if you do. From that perspective SMU fans should be concerned we are going to a higher level of competition without the required corresponding improvement in talent. Klemm was on the right track. Two of his WR commitments Chris Harper at Cal and Gabe Marks at WSU are already tearing it up in the PAC and would have made us a better team this year and the future

I don't necessarily agree with your conclusion, but this is the most well thought out responses I've seen.

Hope you enjoyed those 3 third tier bowls because June's process will have us right back to being a laughingstock.
