The Stampede this week

Post by RyanSMU98 »

For whatever it is worth (and given the sentiments, probably not much to many out here): I only caught the second half of this week's Stampede, essentially the section where they talk about the results and post-game thoughts of the slaughter, er, game against aTm. Among the clips was the team, and JJ, going over to the student section for Varsity and for the first time that I can certainly think of, I saw a JJ that was visibly pissed at the result. You could just see it in his body language; he looked wiped out, frustrated, grasping for an explanation as to why things got so out of hand and why his O can't seem to stay on the field and put up points. Those sentiments were slightly more rawly expressed in the interview he did on the field that they showed. Then he went back to the same old laid back, monotone guy we usually see at the pressers. But the point is, there clearly was a sign (albeit only briefly expressed and seen) of a man who is not just here to cash a paycheck.

I'm hopeful that this is the man addressing his team leading up to TCU; if it is, then quite frankly I don't give a [Fatterson] if anybody else sees it. None of us are putting on pads and a helmet, and none of us are running practices and calling plays. If nothing else, there is still a competitor in him somewhere, and hopefully that side of him is much more visible to the players than it is to the community. I hope that spills over to the players and they leave everything on the field against TCU. I don't think they did that against Baylor or aTm, but once they do then they have done all we can ask regardless of the final score (of course the optimist in me thinks if they put forth that effort then a win is not completely out of the question, but who knows right now). Just wanted to provide an alternate point of view for folks to consider (or in the case of some on this board, openly dismiss and denigrate as useless "sunshiner" drivel).

I've been avoiding watching too much post game stuff as I'm pretty sick of following this football team right now, BUT, do you think this has anything to do with him wanting more from the team...or does he see the writing on the wall if the team implodes this year, he gets canned, and no one else comes calling? I don't see this as a reflection of him caring any more than years' past.

I honestly don't know if it is survival instinct kicking in and knowing he is out of options or a genuine desire to compete, but quite honestly it doesn't matter because the net effect is the same: he has to do something to right the ship, he has to put in the extra effort, and he has to push the team to do better (don't know that it does anything on the recruiting front as that will likely come home to roost after he is gone regardless). The source of that motivation is perhaps suspect, but as long as it is there it is a positive in my mind.

Because most likely we can either bank some money to entice his successor or pay his buyout; can't do both.

Never should have allowed the chump to come back after he left for ASU. Orsini should have been fired sooner for allowing the scum to return....Lilly? Anyone see where the volleyball team practices?

Worst Stampede ever. I guess due to the poor ag showing they used the first half of the show to show us stuff about the SFA win we saw in the previous show. Same hilites, same players, same interviews. the pony walk was pathetic...just a bunch of guys meandering up to the stadium like they were going to be concessions workers with few if any fans. In the distance people didn't even get their lazy rear-ends out of their chairs to cheer. I am sure this really fired up the team or maybe the apathy of so many is deflating for our football team. This is a passionate sport and if you can't play OR coach with that passion then it is time to move on. Same for the fans!

The expression you see on June's face is him ruminating on the fact that if more students had shown up, he wouldn't have lost this game, because his offensive system is perfect, but unfortuneately like Santa's sleigh, needs cheering and adoration to make it work.
