Re: Can someone clear this up re: jj contract?
Per discussions on this board last year,
If we had fired him last year, we would have owed him a fixed-sum buyout + the money remaining on his contract.
If we fire him after this season, we will owe him the money remaining on his contract.

I kinda want to start a fundraiser at SMU's quad that says all funds will be put together to get rid of JJ ASAP. More for him to know its that bad and how much we despise him

The article states he got a 2 year extension and will be at SMU through the 2014 season. How sad. there is no hope for the future. We will be cellar dwellers in the Big East. We can't be paying SO and DOH and now JJ for $4 million. Whatever happen to a performance clause? And the next guy will say he wants 5 years to rebuild and the cycle will continue. There is no joy in Mudville tonight. Mighty June has struck out: again

Well I hope from now on all contracts will have performance clauses. Ugh it's going to be hard being an SMU fan, it's going to be extremely hard to recruit Dallas, it's just going to be a difficult decade

"Coach Jones has brought a winning culture to our football program, and under his leadership, I know he will soon exceed my goal for the football program here at SMU, and that is to be a perennial Top 25 team," Orsini said. "He has more than earned this extension."
Jones is laughing all the way to the bank.

Remember when we were all freaked out that Jones hadn't signed the extension yet? We're all idiots.

I remember his son coming on ponyfans when he thought the ASU job was a done deal. Saying we were a terrible school and they hated SMU and wanted to leave and on and on.
Makes one wonder what is said at the dinner table.

And of course if jj is here for one or two more years we will not only be the laughing stock of the BE but will p!ss away any possible chance of moving to a better conference in the next round of alignments. If the coaches and admin complain about fan attendance now just wait til they see all of the empty seats next year and the year after.

Re: Can someone clear this up re: jj contract?
I have heard it goes through 2013. I really hope that is correct since we can buy out a one year. How about if he quits. Can we make it just miserable?
