I hate being jealous of TCU. Great stadium.Big 12 type attendance. Great recruiting locally. We have to start dominating those guys again. (yes, chillun, we beat them something like 14 years in a row back in my day).

Re: TCU
Hard to believe with our current coach and his recruiting prowess, that it will ever happen. The Tech-TCU game just seems to be at another speed than the games in Cupcake-USA.Topper wrote:I hate being jealous of TCU. Great stadium.Big 12 type attendance. Great recruiting locally. The sooner June gets the eff out of here the sooner we can get serious about competing with TCU. Domination isn't happening as long as Fatterson has something to say about it.

Re: TCU
As much as I dislike tc-who I have to give them credit. They hired coaches who would recruit, coach
and build winning teams. They have and can compete with the BCS teams that have kicked out butt and prove that a small private school can be a winner with the right combination of resources.

Re: TCU
I don't advocate for or against coaching changes. This has been a difficult situation where our current staff has taken us from a culture of losing to one of comparative (but still modest) success. Besides, I am a small time donor and will have no say over hiring and firing. But I think that realistically we have to measure our situation against the one at TCU. The last 4 years have, if nothing else, stopped serious talk of dropping the program. And we have a very long way to go to stack up against the Horned Frogs. The Big 12 invite was an enormous boost for them and I consider our absence from that conference to be a recruiting hurdle that makes the HC job here very difficult.
Re: TCU
It has not stopped the basketball coaches. In football if it were not for Hill and Mason we would only have a handful of commits. And only one of current commits has BCS offers. WE have adjusted the entrance requirements as Stallion has said so that can;t be used as an excuse. Our coaches look at a lot of film but relationships with Texas coaches help even more. One of the football coaches at Cedar Hill (a school that produces alot of D1A talent) said that while SMU has offered some of there players that he had not seen an SMU coach at Cedar Hill in 5 years. I have heard that some of Plano football coaches have said similar things as well.Topper wrote: I consider our absence from that conference to be a recruiting hurdle that makes the HC job here very difficult.

Amazing success even with move to Big 12 and losing a lot of players. Credit where credit is due. Too bad we were so slow on the up take of what had to be done back in 2000 with recruiting rules and coaching prowess. SMU donned their rose colored sunglasses while TCU recognized it. It costs us Millions of dollars and loss of prestige. Stupid.

Re: TCU
No reason to hate TCU other than one game per year. They took it upon themselves to improve their program and become nationally prominent while we sat with our heads in the sand.
I can't hate them anywhere near as much as I hate the powers at be at SMU for not getting their asses in gear when they should have.
To see it any other way is either ignorant or simply jealously. It kills me but it's true.

I hate them because of Patterson and because of their younger, ignorant fans, and there are but a few things that delight me more than to watch Patterson and their ignorants fall flat on their face03Mustang wrote:No reason to hate TCU other than one game per year.
