Win 3 of 5

Post by ponyfan777 »

Very simple, we win 3 of 5 and we make our 4th straight bowl. We win all 5 and just might win C-USA.
Which one do you see us pulling off? Your thoughts.

We need to win 4 of the next five. And five of five to ensure we have at least a winning record at the end of it all. The Tulane lost was so damaging to this team that it places pressure to win every game from here on out.

I don't think we will need to win 4 to go bowling...this years CUSA is so bad that I do think a 6-6 SMU gets the invite to the Hawaii Bowl.

Of course, I'd like to win all 5...but haven't seen the consistency yet from the offense to really see that happening. I think we handle memphis and USM is very bad as well, so there should be 2 wins. I also think we should beat Rice.

I think we lose to UCF, and then it all comes down to the Tulsa game.

6-6 likely
7-5 with some luck
8-4 if our offense (Gilbert and receivers) get on a serious roll.

If the Houston game team shows up, I think we can take any cupcake USA team, if the Tulane teams comes out then possibly 5-7. All that matters is the team that decides to show up. Every game will worry me.

If the Tulane team comes out for any of the remaining games, we're not winning another game this year.

Who on this thread was excited for a 6-6 record? I did not sense that.

Right now I see 6-6.

Like to see us improve, then I'll change my prediction to 7-5.

Extra practice, rest, then win bowl game..

I'll take 6-6 any day over 5-7. 6 wins = bowl eligibility. SMU in a bowl game is a good thing.

Is there a point in the future where going .500 is not good enough?

Nope, .500 will always be good enough because .500 gets you to a bowl these days.

I hate bowl games for 6-6 teams....TCU included. Shoudl require a minimum of 7 or 8 Div 1A wins for a bowl game.

Too many meaningless bowl games. They have to allow 6-6 teams or these meaningless bowl games would be in trouble. It was much better when bowl games were affiliated with conferences with the conference champion being one of the teams playing in the bowl. Oh well, the barn door has been opened and it's too late to corral the madness.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
