I believe with 99% confidence that no one on the board knows that. I wish it became public info so we can start fundraiser...

He is due 2 full years of his contract. Some of you use buyout incorrectly. A buyout is usually the amount a school or Coach himself has to pay to SMU to get him out of his contract early at the Coaches request. Its been reported that expired after this current year. So any school could "steal" Jones without paying SMU anything. But for SMU to fire him now with 2 years left on contract SMU would have to pay him 2 years salary

Why would we let not actually knowing stop us from throwing out an uninformed statement?

As I posted on another thread (and Stallion, as I believe you also think), clearly neither side is happy with the current situation and it seems very possible that a mutual parting of ways...maybe a retirement + "bonus" payment deferred for a few years...is very possible.

June wants another shot at the NFL, and at 60 years old he isn't going to want to sit here for 2 more years hating life.

what June wants and what reality will deliver are two very different things. Assuming nobody in the NFL is that interested in a college coach that uses an offense that is 25 years out of date to deliver a 5-7 record in one of the easiest conferences in America, we will be seeing June for one more year and then can have a retriement party that will cost us about 1.5 million.

I'd be surprised if JJ is back next year.

He's tried leaving 2 years in a row: to Maryland and to ASU.

Maybe the third year is the charm!

rumor - one year guaranteed .with additional year for another school for buyout purposes.

Prediction - beat Tulsa and a bowl - he is here next year.
