Re: Big East Conference in 2015
Well this isn't really code red til Louise or Cincy get taken by te big 12 which typically doesn't do anything with quiet footsteps. They had the chance to get Louise an they didn't take it. Heck they took TCU over them, which means they are done growing unless they fear something. If ACC goes after UConn, oh well they were a basketball school. Our hope is this is an isolated incident and we only lose one member that provided probably about as much value to the conference as SMU would. So until we hear anything about our two big dogs, nothing will change. ESPN is doing everything it can take hit us hard for trying to let NBC in. In surprise NBC doesn't just make an offer that doesn't get Aresco fired but something where they don't feel sick.
Re: Big East Conference in 2015
The only place the Big XII poaches is in ACC/SEC territory and that would be ESPN/Fox taking a shot at the SEC. The low hanging fruit is FSU, Clemson and GT. That would send a shot across the bow of the SEC and pretty much filet the ACC footballwise. I think that's why the Big XII stopped at 11 to have the flexibility to add three. The risk then is that the ACC dives toward Louisville, Cincy and U Conn as a lifeline or do they add 5 and where? The suits are throwing cash into a large vat of poo, just to see who dives in.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna

Re: Big East Conference in 2015
Who in Texas would the Big 10 go for?
Houston -- to dumb, not big enough fan base, had success doesnt look like it anymore
SMU-- too small, no fanbase, at best a northwestern
Baylor-- has it nice next to Texas, plenty of money has the hype, fanbase is growing down in Texas, no reason to change
Tech-- too dumb, football is mediocre, basketball nothing,
Texas- owns the bIg 12 why give that up
AM - happy with SEC
UTSA- LOLZ
UNT - Major LOLZ
Am I forgetting anyone?

Rice-AAU school (kind of a big deal for the Big 10), no fanbase, lousy football

Texas is the only school in the state the Big 10 will pursue. Honestly every other option is laughable. All of the Big 10s recent invites have gone to large AAU state schools (only 2 fit those criteria in Texas).

Which I can see them inviting Rice in the idea that the money they get will build their football and basketball. They have the academics. They have recently played B10 schools in their schedule and have done a competitive job at it. I guess I really wouldnt be surprise to see the ricers get an invite.

It would be shocking but they're a better fit than every school in the state but Texas and A&M (not saying much). Still don't see enough benefit for the Big 10 though, their only private is Northwestern which was a charter member of the Big 10 over a century ago.

Lol, but worst case scenario I still think we keep Temple and USF instead of Marshall and another weak link.MustangStealth wrote:The Big East in 2015:

Re: Big East Conference in 2015
The ACC looks to be raided heavily moving forward. That conference could dissolve or absorb Big East teams. Next few years will be interesting to say the least.

Re: Big East Conference in 2015
Our only hope is A, nothing happens or UConn gets taken away, nbd. Or, the ACC gets raided so badly that the conference dissolves and we invite teams. However the chance of the latter happening is probably statistically non-existent. The former, I personally believe and can see that having the highest chance. However with our luck it the ACC lose two big teams we lose our two big teams and we are stuck in pseudo- div. 1aa and nick saban gets his way of blocking the OOC schedule to that pseudo division effectively killing all those football teams since ticket sales and partial tv money die.
